diablo175 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Have a LP Axcess w/ Burstbuckers, and the damned thing is treble heavy as hell. Any way, outside of swapping pickups, to knock down the treble without using the tone knob (and cutting the drive/attack)? Does changing the capacitors help?
velorush Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Yes, even with the treble knob on '10' the cap attenuates treble frequencies. Do you know the value of the capacitors in the guitar now? Ever tried pure nickel strings? Warmed up my Strat with the vintagey (read: "trebly") 57/62 pickups. Nice and bendy, too.
murkat Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Your axcess maybe a fucked up one Jim.Some of them went out with the wrong value on the cap push pull pot.A lot of them were shipped out with 25k pot, not the 500k pot, and GCS new it.BB's are bright to begin with.See if it has the right PP pot in there (remove to see underside).A good cap will make the difference to tame the high end.My fav cap is a dubiler super pup cap. Hard to find (I have a few). They do not mud up when roll down, and focus on the spikes while retaining the mids and honk.
HSB0531 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Barbeque sauce usually de-trebles a trebly guitar.Apply to finish, fretboard, and neck.Thin out with water and rub on strings to get that deep brown sound.
