Damned shame 'cuz the man can definitely play. But that sh*t is moving up towards KISS' merchandizing juggernaut.

I've been working my way through his concert at Royal Albert Hall over the past couple of weeks. He struck me as a bit of a jackass. Talented, but an odd stage presence. Clapton looked like he really didn't want to be there. Is my perception off?

I got that feeling about the Clapton Duet. But he has since done other things with Joe including the Crossroads Concert. Lets face it when you do nothing but tour but your not in the mainstream you need something to stay in the black. Joe has been whoring himself on the merchandising and is using social media to his advantage.

I wish he would give up the Suit and Tie look. I love his playing and he has settled into a groove and looks like he will be there for a while. Come on its not like he is John Mayer or anything.

That "Blues Dude" shirt has to be one of the douchiest merch items I've ever seen. Beyond lame.

I think the guy is a great player, but he's rapidly becoming the Yngwie of the blues world.

Pure suck.

All I can say on a positive note is capitalize while you can, Joe.

Guitar players whose biggest fans are guitar players are like a scoop of Baskin-Robbins on a July sidewalk. And a new flavor of the month is inevitable.

I have no issues with him, but Classic Rock ran an in depth feature about him and his manager that touted their fuck the industry/we do things our way attitude.

Also, he took an upstate NY journalist to task for writing that he is hated by his peers, his music is soul-less and he has not paid his dues.

I've met Joe twice, both within the last 6 months. He's extremely down to earth and quite appreciative of his fans.

I even took my Mom and Dad to a show out in SLC this past April. (They have their 50th anniversary this year).

I agree that the crass commercialism is getting pretty bad; but I don't begrudge anyone trying to make money for playing the guitar and being on the road 250-300+ days a year.

Personally I love his music and his guitar playing. Live he's another experience altogether and worth the effort to see whenever possible.

Watch the rock n roll hall of fame segment of him, Billy Gibbons and Derek Trucks doing "Going Down". There looks to be a bad vibe between he and Gibbons for some reason. I've always loved his tone. Just a little worn out on him these days.

I think what's most objectionable here (to me, anyway; it certainly makes sense from a marketing perspective) is the fact that he's letting his fans pick the style. Naturally, the bowling shirt won in a landslide. At least the work shirt would have been somewhat contemporary and cool. Unless, of course, it ended up having BLUES DUDE plastered all over it.

Joe did have great chemistry with his original trio; his first two albums with them are my favorite JB releases. Since then he's become a bit too sophisticated for my tastes, and I won't buy a straight blues album by him (or anyone else for that matter). I do loves me some Black Country Communion, though.

Maybe the reason industry people are so put off by him is the fact that he's a silver-spoon child prodigy? Who knows how hard his dad pushed him down everyone's throat. There's no question he's put in the work over the past decade or so.

...or my knee on a Shreveport sidewalk in an afternoon in August.

I liked him a lot a few years ago.....I live his live playing...especially the Shepherd's Bush EP.....but it seems as if he is ....well everywhere these days....solo LPs all the time, and many collaborations simultaneously....or seemingly simultaneously.....I love his playing and his love of his blues/rock forbears.....but I am a little saturated with Joe B these days...an incredible talent tough.

I thought his latest release Driving Towards The Daylight was really quite good, keep them coming Joe! Too many artists put out a so so cd every 2 or 3 years. As far as the merchandise goes, you can vote with your wallet. I am not wearing a Blues Dude shirt even if you gave it to me.

I never got a good feeling watching him play for some reason. I've seen him twice recently and had opposite reactions to what he did.

One was a festival performance medley that included Just Got Paid and Dazed and Confused that I thought was amazing. He was playing a Flying V if you know the show I'm talking about.

The other was a performance where he, Billy Gibbons, and Derek Trucks traded licks. Trucks and Gibbons played it cool and then Boner-massa shredded all over the place. I just thought "what a dick".

He did the same thing on a Leslie West video somebody posted here (shredding out of synch with the performance).

He donated a guitar to a Clapton charity; that's how he got him to play in Albert Hall.

My very personal reaction is that a very little 'Southern Rock' goes a very long way with me...so I found it hard to get past the 3rd song on the Albert Hall performance.

All that said, making a living in the music business is really difficult, so I try not to begrudge anyone creating horrible merchandise. Heck I still have my Miley Cyrus tackle box.

Miley had Disney behind her. Dunno who Bonnamassa has, but horrible is horrible, regardless if it's corporately shoveled out to the masses or not.

Which reminds me, anybody got a Gibson MM Jonas Brothers model guitar for sale?
