In my recently launched quest for some old Gibson and Dimarzio pickups, I've run across two 60s/70s gold pickup covers (they unfortunately did not have the pickups in them) that have been rattle canned to a solid color. It looks like a thick finish, and may have even have clear over the color. I can chip a little off with my fingernail, but that approach would take forever.
Can anything take the paint off that won't remove the gold? If not, ending up with nickel plated covers cold be OK, I suppose. What would you use?
There was also a cream M8 pickup ring, also painted. Can I get the paint off without destroying the plastic? Or, should I just paint it black, and forget about it?
