I would really like to hear any kind of music made with members guitars, preferable Hamer's, along with the specs. It can be studio, home computer stuff or just an amp and mic.

It would be better than pictures to me. Actually both would be great.

First step would be to get those clips you did back in this thread... I meant to check them out last night but I took a couple of melatonin and was out before I knew it.

Your clips please?

I'll play. This is a song I've been reworking over the summer and have added vocals. I'm still working on it but it is pretty close to as good as I can get it.

Systems in Place

recording on my mac in Garageband using Amplitube for amp sims. Presonus firewire interface. Hamer 84 Prototype II for all guitar parts. Hamer 83 Cruise bass for bass. Drums on demand drums.

Here's a recent cover band demo that I finished a couple of months ago. I used my '94 Hamer Diablo II & Takamine EAN10C acoustic/ electric guitars, Fryette Valvulator tube buffer, Zoom G9.2tt effects processor into Pro Tools/Mac computer.

Guitar George

Great cover demos! I dig your willingness to tackle dance music.

I would have thought that Mathman used the Diablo II and Guitar George was using the Prototype II...

Hamers are so versatile!

Appreciate the post and specs. After listening more this MIK owner is going to give some thoughts on these. I want a USA Diablo so badly but I can't get it until my sons finished with college. There are several guitars in the $400-600 range that have a 100% professional grade sound, but the Alder Diablo's have the most balanced tonality and umph imo.

I am going to listen to the clips in my car when I leave in a few minutes

This is my Hello World song with Cubase. Learned to import Midi drums and bass lines from the Boss DR-880, tweak the midi a bit afterwards. Then to layout a simple melody and rhythm guitar on it. In between there is some improvisation. Mixed it a bit and still have to learn on the mastering steps.

Newport clean through AC-15 for the rhythm guitar and my Red Special Bo Diddley through a Silvertone. Both guitars on the neck pickup as far as I remember.

The KC was excellent. Hard to pull off without some blow. The real pulse of the disco ere was KC,, not the Bee Gee's imo. KC represented everything down to the underbelly of it. His music is way underrated.

System in place is very nice. To me it sounds like it has influences over several generations. The vocal notes nearly gives it a psychedelic edge. I like the Prototype II. Sounds bluesy and versatile. Really sounds great starting 3:41.

I like Burning Yen. I get's a bass sound that is pleasing to the ear that I can't get. Like a Les Paul with a little more high end. That's a hell of a guitar.

Nice bass orientated tune. I do all my hobbyist recording through a home computer and host now. I got away from the midi instruments and use vsti's exclusively no matter if they sample or produce their own sound.

FL Studio - VSTI Host w/ effects

Any free BASS vst

BFD - For Drums (includes 10 different sets with cymbals that you can interchange)

Amplitue 3 - Guitar amp simulator

Hardware

One Midi keyboard

One Hamer guitar

One small preamp

Almost every distorted guitar part I ever recorded in this band was played on my mid 90s Hamer studio. I used the Dunan JB that came stock in this guitar for all of it too.

I used some Fenders for clean tones only, and an acoustic once or twice.

The last album had other guitar players so ignore that one.

Rock on!

So Girth has the Studio? It's amazing the versatility of Hamer's with that shape. And this is a great example of that, excellent stuff. The guitar doesn't really have that dark metal look but it can do it, along with showing more depth that most of those guitars, like with the primus sounding stuff a little later in the song. I will probably check all of these out. Great harmonics before going back into the rhythm.

Girth was the band. I was the guitar player in all incarnations: 1st album - guitar / drums duo, 2nd album - guitar, keys, drums trio, 3rd album - 3 guitar players and 1 drummer 4-piece band.

I just meant to not listen to the last album as the other guitar players did not play Hamers ;)

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, the VSTs are quite versatile and there are many out there. I'm sitting in front of a computer the whole day and sometimes like to leave the damn thing switched off. That's why I bought the DR-880. Digging into recording brought me to employ the DR into the process. The good thing with midi is that I'm able to transfer the drum and bass parts easily to Forte 3 to notate the stuff I'm doing later on. For my experience, with all the tools, these days, you start composing on tool patterns and possibly notate in the 2nd step. At least I want to learn or improve on it.

Great, you like the tune.

I don't have anything recent since I've gotten my chops back up to speed. (after a long period of limited playing.) This is from 2/12 just screwing around with some Mel bay stuff, testing out some new recording gear. :D

I thought you were pulling the leg at first. What is the guitar? I sounds like a you made it through a Host with midi drums. It could just be from a guitar and a workstation type keyboard. Let us know, nice chops and good sound.

First off, I love these threads! It's a great time to sit around and listen to the hard work of the various wonderful members here! The beautiful people of the HFC are chock full of talent, hard work and accomplishment and my hat's off to everyone who posts their work in this thread.

OMG!!!! That was a medley from hell and a total tour de force of guitar recording! You know my ears perked up during "In Your Direction".

Great recordings and tones Neil! Can you talk about all of the various riffs, takes, recordings etc. that were contained in that clip?

Here's one I recorded with my old cherry BCR Jr. (can't find a pic):

Abaddon pt2

The rest were recorded using this Special:

special1.jpg

Abaddon pt3

The Local Apocalypse

The Optimistic Song (solo only)

Light In the Head

Dream Machine

Untitled power pop

Everything was recorded using my old POD 2.0.

Your playing is so clean and perfect sounding Ben, I dig everything that I've ever heard from you.

Gorch, that sounded FANTASTIC! Your chops have gotten soooo good this past year... I can't believe how much you've progressed! This song is absolutely killer. The tones are total jazztones. Saying I totally dig it is an understatement.
