BadgerDave Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 91 Gibson Explorer that has been pimped, butchered and bastardized. Stike confirmed that this is a ROWYCO champagne sparkle refin. The previous owner also had real pearl crown inlays added. My contributions are a set of Duncan '59 pickups, a set of functional strap buttons, Faber long bridge posts, lightweight bridge and locking spacers and a pearl truss rod cover. Believe it or not, I was thinking of finding a basket case explorer and doing something just like this, and then this one shows up on ebay. In addition to the party girl looks, it is a really good most excellent guitar.
MCChris Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Dave was telling me about this at the NASCAR race yesterday. It's so.....him!
Stevieconlon Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Dave--with how awesome and girly that looks you could consider flipping it to Grace Potter! Looks great!

FrankieIII Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Sweet! Give us a little sun shot so those sprinkles can really pop...
Stevieconlon Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Chris--I agree that metalflake is awesome on guitars and cars. The color and the sparkle is so deep and lustrous (kudos Stike!) that it reminds me of sparkle nail polish. The guitar looks great!
BTMN Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Very Cool! Pearloid or Black guard would really top that out.
MCChris Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Very Cool! Pearloid or Black guard would really top that out.Not to mention a trio of oven knobs!

Great score on that one!The prior owner owns Metro Guitar Service in Arlington VA. He did a great job on the inlays, used a PLEK to do them.
BadgerDave Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 The inlays are perfectly done. Had Gibson done them they would be plastic and likely surrounded by filler. Lots of post-factory precision craftsmanship on this one.Stike is indeed the man! And Metro is the man's man, it appears.
Ted Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Sexy Rawk Machine here in the HFC House!!!!!!! Great addition BD!
Steve Haynie Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 That guitar requires a special outfit when you play it in public.
FrankieIII Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 C'mon Dave, show us a money shot under the sun so it can be all it can be.
