BadgerDave Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Brand new condition, ships in the original Gibson box, maybe an hour and a half of total playing time, no mods or tweaks other than a good set-up. I bought this from Musician's Friend thinking that it is the best SG design Gibson has ever devised. I still believe that, but I also confirmed that I just don't bond with SGs. Meaningless MSRP was arond $1,800 IIRC. MF discount price was $1,200. A couple have recently sold on ebay for $900. Off to ebay on Thursday night. Until then, I'll take $800.00 shipped within the lower 48 US states. Alaska, Hawaii or Canada, add $50.00. PayPal preferred, gift or add 3%. Confirmed addresses only. I'll accept a MO, cashier's check or personal check (if you are a HFC regular). Sorry, I need to generate cash for a real estate closing so I'm not looking for trades. Comes with the original hardshell case and everything that came with it. The guitar is in better than showroom condition. McChris and I are the only people who have ever touched this guitar since it left the factory. No nicks, dings, scratches -nada. FULL DISCLOSURE See the photo below. The top bevel has a bit of unevenness that you can see and feel if you're looking for it. It wasn't an issue for me, but if you buy it and it bothers you, I'll take it back and refund your money. The guitar plays effortlessly and sounds exactly like you would expect. It has a medium to thick neck profile for an SG, big frets and 57 Classic pickups. Here's the advertising copy from the Gibson website: To celebrate 50 years since the introduction of this seminal design, Gibson USA unveils the SG Standard 24, a guitar that captures all the classic ingredients of Gibson’s great double-cutaway solidbody model, with a few clever twists to make it even more versatile for today’s demanding performer. Like the best SGs of the past 50 years, the SG Standard 24 starts with a solid mahogany body and glued-in quarter-sawn mahogany neck, a pairing that ensures ringing sustain, superb tonal depth, and plenty of clarity and richness. The body’s thin dimensions make this a pleasurably light guitar to play, while its classically beveled edges also make it comfortable on the forearm. To update the format for the 21st century, however, Gibson USA gives the SG Standard 24 the 24-fret neck that its name implies, with even the uppermost of its medium-jumbo frets easily accessible thanks to the SG’s legendary deep double-cutaway design. Combine this with a beautifully ergonomic rounded profile, and you’ve got one of the sweetest playing rock machines available today.
LordOfTheThighs Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Jeez. The other times this has been posted, I kept trying to figureout how to come up with the $$$. Now its only $800. Thats simply a steal. If I didn't have a partsocaster project in the early stages, I'd be all over this.I really like how the fretboard covers the space between the neck and pickup.AND its a black SG. Good Luck with the sale.
MCChris Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 McChris and I are the only people who have ever touched this guitar since it left the factory. Not what I'd call a selling point, but, good luck with the sale!
BadgerDave Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 Checking the Gibson Website reveals an MSRP of $2,129.00. I'm saving you an additional imaginary $329.00!
