Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier Solo 50 II

Question

Posted

I've got a line on a couple of used ones; one for 620 or so shipped.

Anyone had one? If so, what do you think?

Have tried a few pedals to get that lower chuggah sound, but none of them quite get there. Don't have a power amp, so suspect that the tonestack/operating range of the amps are just not right either.

Is that the Rectoverb?

Rectoverb and the Single share the same basic circuit IIRC. They share the same manual.

I'm sitting here, about 3 feet away from one. I've had mine for jeez, 8 or 10 years. I like it a lot. Gets PLENTY loud, if one was so inclined. I haven't owned many amps, so

my frame of reference to others is limited. Sounds really good, with typical MB gain tone. Takes my BOSS GT-10 tones just fine. Goes clean to crunchy, and all points in between

pretty good.

$620 seems like a good price, IMO. Does MB still make the Single Rectifier Solo II anymore?

I don't see mine going anywhere soon. Serves my purposes just fine.

Thanks all!

It is out of production, as as the Rectoverb.

Maybe that's why deals are abounding? Seen ones for 700 or so also.

Seeker,

I have a Rectoverb 1-12 combo. It won't do the Chugga real well with the 1-12 but I imagine it would roar through a 4-12. The clean side is nice too but can go real bright real quick. I keep the presence at or near zero. I usually stay on the clean channel and use an OCD and FD-2 for different flavors of dirt. The gain channel is great but a little heavier than the styles I like to play. Got mine for $425 because the reverb didn't work. I don't use reverb so I thought that was a steal.
