When do I get to make a promo/commercial that will make Jol and other boutique custom shops completely green with envy?

Maybe we can do a small fund raiser to get enough funds to schlep me to Conneticut?

If Mike puts Duncan pups in his guitars, I can surely get some Facebook cross promotion going with the Duncan page.

If ever there is a moment where my talents and abilities are needed... this moment is surely one of them.

Geoff:

Right now, Mike is working out the custom pickup concept and basic supplier. Obviously, that will be based not only on his vision/hearing and customer inquiry, but also by whatever makes economic sense for him as a builder. I wouldn't rule anything out at this stage, but having you do a video (or videos) would definitely be a cool thing to add as a site feature!

Couldn't hurt to give Frank Falbo a ring at Duncan, Frank's a great guy.

Custom pickups? Really? I don't think that's necessarily a good idea since there's a pickup for every flavor right now and the market is saturated. Cross promoting with an existing pickup manufacturer is a really good idea... Seymour Duncan is the only company that has a decent ground game and so that's why I mentioned it. Making pickups isn't as easy as everyone makes it out to be... better off benefiting from someone with years and years of experience.

But I digress, my opinion isn't worth squat.

Frank Falbo is no longer with SD, he has Falbo guitars and is working on a new pickup company called Flux.

I'd love to do a video... not with me playing or anything, just guitar porn and Mike talking about his new company... designed to sell guitars and would be all about marketing.

But.. I offered my services for free to Stike and he turned me down. I'm not trying to make money and have always offered my services without any compensation. Most people are too good to have me help them. It's their fucking loss, not mine.

Mike, your wok speaks volumes of your talent. I wish you huge success, and i'll be one of your clients, hopefully in the near future, or later.

I'm happy to see that the dream is not dead, and that you get to do what you love to do.

Good luck!!!

Damn, Mike- you ARE talented- building high quality, boutique guitars AND cooking some kick ass stir fry in your wok...

Ah, fok it...the teacher got me an F on spelling :P

Mike, i LOVE WOKING as well, specially fried Dim Sums..so any time that you come to Quebec, let me know'

My thought was that if Frank was still with Duncan, he might be interested in getting on board early. I wasn't aware he had gone back to Falbo Guitars (I have a Falbo preamp in one of my 7 strings) but that it would be easier to see what Duncan's got than to start from scratch.

Quebec! I'm in Kingston, ON. Not too far down the road.

I'm in! If the ceiling has been lifted above those first 12. Which I really hope so. I'm shaking right now. Excitement for everyone involved, from those who have their quote to those who will enjoy the porn of the build process and the completed masterpieces and of course, especially for Mike. Hear hear!

I think Mike's plan was to use Shaws. ;P

Mike,

Very happy to see you back into the "gitfiddle bidness" ! That magic "they" used to have access to walked out with you and a few other neat folks. ;)

Your eye for detail is as keen as they come and your craftsmanship is impeccable. I hope you are wildly successful at this.

I emailed you in order to "get in line" for some custom work.

Best of luck to you!

As an update, the initial response far outstripped the available slots for the limited run offer.

Once the dust settles a bit and Mike is able to review the orders, he'll contact the first people in line and take their deposits. If somebody doesn't pony up a deposit or if their submitted order goes too far off the basic offered spec, then the next person in line will get the nod.

There were over 50 requests for quotes or submissions within the first 12 hours after the site went "live" at Midnight on Thursday (and more after noon today), if that is any indication of the volume Mike is sifting through right now!

Thanks for your patience, and you'll be hearing from him shortly...

The following message appears on the site now, but not sure if everybody has seen it:

** PLEASE NOTE ** The response to the initial "Ultimate" Model offer has exceeded the available slots for the run. Submissions will be reviewed and responses returned in the order they were received, and places will be held based on timely receipt of Deposits. If slots open up, notification will be given to the next available name on the list, in order. Thanks!

I'd love to see you do the video. Sounds like its time for the hfc version of kickstarter to get you there. I'd throw in.

I committed to buying one around 0900-1000 this morning. I had to do it at work. My boss also plays guitar and will understand!

I hope I (and all the rest of us) was/were early enough to make the cut. I wish Mike the very best with this, and hope we can all continue to support him.

Well ... just got logged in for the the first time today, and a new guitar company has been announced, AND sold out their first run of gits. AWESOME !

I guess I'm glad I got in late, because now I don't have stress out over trying to swing one of these, right now.

The king is dead ... Long Live The King.
