Ting Ho Dung
I just joined a country band. I think I am going to play my standard in it as my main ax because it's about time someone played country on a standard. ...or played rock on a standard in key and tempo with a country band that happens to be playing at the same time. Ha! Done that: At the time I was thinking how playing in a rock band would be waaaay better. I've been meaning to get a hat like that. Hell Yeah! Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame
Sometimes I think Corey Glover decided, at times, to sing a different song than Vernon Reid was playing. If so, Muzz Skillings apparently decided it wasn't worth it to take sides.
Michael_B
Here's another one you guys may have heard, but was new to me (I need to socialize more):Whenever a blooz-dad band starts up another variation on the 12 bar blues, Satan laughs at Robert Johnson's eternally tormented soul.

Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame
Kix is probably my least favorite Hair Metal band named after a breakfast cereal.
gorch
The little son had the annual public drum play at the regional music school last Monday. While having him prepared for the play, he made a secret of what he's going to perform. To our surprise, he played a nice duo with his teacher. Both were nicely in sync. At the end of the audition they had the last year state and country award winning drummer playing with his three piece jazz band. They had won the country award for this year and are going to play the state contest in a few months. Those young boys are freaking fantastic! Played their own compositions. Lots of great music in between from other students. Our little boy is in good hands though.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame
I had been playing guitar a few years when I encountered the basic open D9 chord (a D chord with the high e string open). It sounded dissonent and cool to me.Not sure when it happened, but ssomewhere along the line, it became consonant for me. LucSulla
I have a tattoo of Waylon Jennings, but then I wound up looking like Waylon Jennings. Most people think I have a tattoo of myself. Oh well.

Brooks
Apparently, it's well-known and almost legendary, but TIL: On "Won't Get Fooled Again" (and most of Who's Next), Townshend played a Gretsch 6120 into a Bandmaster. I had always assumed it was one of his Gibsons into a Hi-Watt. i thought it was a cane front boogie...?
LucSulla
Here's an old performance that Natalie would kill me for posting (no monitors, so she is flat here there pretty noticeably). But hey, Disturber likes shit raw, plus you can't see me.

Michael_B
Spotify served up Nick Lowe. Awesome. Nick Lowe's one of my favorite artists that's never on my mind. His solo work, his work at Stiff and Rockpile are all some of my favorite music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iSzS9lGBbo&list=PLYTO0R89l0eHDMK7hfF9UjAFehc4Ne3ev
Michael_B
I just watched about a dozen A.V. Undercover videos. I, now, understand why kids today don't want to play guitar driven music.
Michael_B
I've listed about a dozen guitars on CL. Despite the many appointments, no one has ever actually shown up... until this AM. The guy shows up and makes his case for a lower price by saying that a new Gibson SG Tribute is less money than the Gibson SG Standard that I'm selling. I don't know why I bother with trying to sell on CL.
Brooks
after hearing it this morning on pandora, i'm convinced that miles davis tune "right off" from tribute to jack johnson was the inspiration for jeff becks "freeway jam".

I don't know why I bother with trying to sell on CL.you gotta be firm w/ CL deals. i always insist on a phone number, & i spell out the deal before we meet;"ok, we're meeting at 1pm at food lion, and you're bringing me $300 cash, no haggling or funny business".if they start in w/ "well i got to see it first before i decide if its worth $300",i'll say "nevermind, i'm too busy for games"...
LucSulla
Same here Brooks. I had a kid try to haggle with me just a month ago after agreeing on the price for an amp. I needed to move it on, so I came down a little bit more. He then asked if I'd throw in a speaker cable. I responded, "Do I look like fucking Guitar Center? Be happy you are leaving with just an amp and not an ass kicking too."Fucking Austin slackers.

Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame
No disrespect to Paul Rodgers and the Rodgers-era Bad Company (which produced a few of my top favorite songs), but my favorite album from Bad Company is Dangerous Age.It's a Top 10 Desert Island album for me.Aside #1: It always sucks when the main members of the band disown your favorite album by themAside #2: I met Brian Howe when he did a show in Iraq. Props to him for doing half the concert before a chest cold made it impossible for him to continue. He's got one of my favorite rock voices. At the time he struck me as a rather arrogant jerk...but I guess you can't/shouldn't judge someone from an hour of stage patter and <5 minutes in the band flyer-signing queue.
