whitedogbanana Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Have been looking to find one for ages and not given up yet. If you have one or know of one for sale (ANYWHERE ON EARTH) please shout! Thanks.
Sugartune Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 See here from the forum... A very nice quilted experience.
Bobby Marshall Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 You might have a better chance finding a Hamer Virtuoso! or Hamer Watson. Or maybe not.Been trying to find one of these and except for the one above, they seem to have gone underground.
tonefiend Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 If you can't find one and you have the $$$$, you might consider an alternative, such as Nik Huber's Dolphin or a custom build with Tally Pro specs by Jol Dantzig.
django49 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 A worthy search. I still consider the Tally Pro one of, maybe THE, best Hamer ever made. Once I latched onto the Huber Dolphin (the model the Pro was based upon) it was game over for me. Naturally, THAT is a matter of being able to find one at an affordable price.Good luck with your search.
ghamerinfrance Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 In the same spirit (but not the same range), a Tokai Anniversary model...very rare and apparently good (even if not in the Huber price/quality range).GLWS (search)

django49 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I won't name names, but if you talk to (former) Hamer dealers, that is the story I was told. For better or worse, the effort to go "upscale" by raising the "standard" and boosting the MSRPs coincided with the financial and job markets tanking. Which, in turn, lead to the blowout sale price of the warehouse inventory to Willcutts which saturated the market and allowed them to drop the prices. Well, "drop" is a relative term, since list prices had been marked up to unreasonable levels......Witness $10,000 for an Improv! The Hamer business model was done.Having had a pair (each) of the Talladega Pro and Huber Dolphin and sufficient time to play them side by side made it pretty clear the relationship. I DID like the 4 knobs of the Pro, but the (stock) coil splits on the Dolphin, in practice, make it work better for my needs. (BTW, the Pro that I upgraded with Lollar Imperials was much better than the stock version, IMO).All that said, I do recommend the Tally Pro highly, even though both of mine are now gone.Crazy thing too......While Hamer was trying to go more upscale, Huber has been raising its already premium prices by about 10% a year. With recent strength of the dollar vs the Euro, MAYBE that pattern will slow. However, when there is up to a 2 year wait to get one (if ordered), maybe they do not HAVE to sweat the details too much.......

Hamerica Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 For inspiration, not for sale. All that does is make me want to cry. A good cry yet still cry. Hamerica
