GASguy
Aside from the rosewood versus ebony board, harp tailpiece, inlay and other cosmetic features are there any fundamental differences in construction between the Newport Pro and Newport Pro Custom? Thundersteel
I forget which pickups went into the Newport Custom. Seth Lovers? That's what originally came in mine, but they've been swapped out for S-D Phat Cats.
DBraz
Aside from the rosewood versus ebony board, harp tailpiece, inlay and other cosmetic features are there any fundamental differences in construction between the Newport Pro and Newport Pro Custom? No, that's it. Same Seth Lovers that come in the regular Pro model. I've had several Pros, still have a couple; they all came with Seth Lovers. I will say, I don't know if it's the specific piece of spruce on my Custom, or the trapeze/harp tailpiece on it, but that guitar is acoustically much louder than my other Pros, and that leads to a real rich amplified sound. I tend to thing the trapeze tailpiece allows for more string resonation? It's funny you say that. My Pro Custom resonates like crazy but I have no experience of other Newports for comparison.
