What am I missing?

I was going to comment on Zen's video and youtube wouldn't let me. The post button is blue but just an arrow over it when I hover. I click and nothing happens. I edited thinking youtube didn't like a word I used. Nothing. Went to another video randomly and tried to post, same thing. It says I'm logged in. I don't get it.

Gotta cart the wife off to the doctor but hopefully someone will help me when I get back. I really want to give Zen props.

Try a different browser - Firefox or Chrome - and see if you can log in. If you're on a Mac, create a new user account and log into that and try it. If that works, something in your user account is preventing you from commenting - maybe a plugin or setting in your browser. Disable allot see if there's a change. If you can comment, then disable one at a time see which one(s) are the offenders.

For some reason there is a little box for me that says "share with google +". I hadn't seen that before. I had to check that box and then it let me post. I saw some of the other posts said, "shared on google +". Still don't know what that is.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was headed that way but luckily saw the little check box. If anyone knows what that function is, please chime in.

Google+ is Google's attempt to engineer a social media space. If you have a Google ID, you have a Google+ page (think Facebook ) and you'll probably be surprised by what content is on it.

Go here, then hover over the "Profile" box at top left. Click the "Profile" choice in the resulting drop down menu and it should take you to your Google+ page.

Under the banner, you'll see a menu (I think "Posts" is the default landing, but there's also About, Collections, Photos, YouTube, etc. I've never tried to post or develop anything on this, but maybe some other HFCers that have can chime in. All I see on mine are comments I've made on YouTube videos.

I'm with Thorn, I had no idea I had a page either. I'm sure it's buried somewhere in their ToS that they can amass all the info on a person that they can, and compile it into a page. It still sucks, even though I don't have my real name there (I don't think).

The only reason I became aware of it was we got a new Youth Pastor at church and he "added" me to his group or round table or whatever they call it...

I think it was a big deal at one point (the anti-Facebook), but they seem to have withdrawn... some of the initial bluster seems to have gone by the wayside. To me it's more insidious than Facebook: I "deleted" my account, logged off Facebook and won't return. It's not like anyone can realistically 'log off' Google and it's many tentacles.

I remember about a year ago every time I signed onto YouTube I got a little pop up that said, "Make it easier for people to find you and change your name." or something like that. I thought that my account, "Michael Thorn" made it pretty damn clear who I was and ignored it for months. Then I got sick of it popping up even though I hit the ignore button and changed it to "Z Thorn" just as an inside poke to my son. I told my spiritual advisor, Zen, about it and he said that now I was signed up for all this shit. I paid him no attention. And so now I'm reaping the google wrath. I apologize, Zen. You warned me. And now it all makes sense. He truly is The Enlightened one.

But, I signed up for FB a few months ago (chondro nation if anyone wants to friend me) and made a quick 2K. I'm thinking this google + thing is ground floor and may be a decent marketing tool if I spend a few minutes at it.

What amazes me is that i have 0 information on my Google+ page (name is there, but that's it...) and still i have almost 1000 views. I am assuming those are bots - i can't imagine there are 1000 people out there bored enough to look into my Google+ page - vacant or not...
