Import Sunbursts?

I have been checking out the import Sunbursts on ebay as I'm getting tired of just playing my Strat and I'm looking for a decent Humbucker loaded guitar to get back that thick sound that I haven't had for about 10 years (I think..) I did try a used one at Daddy's Portsmouth awhile back, but it was overpriced and there was no way I could get used to the purple burst.....

I'm looking at a gold top P90. Any comments on this model or any towards the particular line?

Acually the Hamer Imports that I've had (for my son) have been very nice. They play good, sound good and look good. My only negative comment is the newer ones are now made in China however they still seem to be nice for the money.

dunno what the Chinese made Hamers go for in the States but they're all over Korea now at $190 out the door. Kinda hard to go wrong at that price, plus, back when Import Hamers were made in Korea, you actually couldn't really find them here, unless they were some sort of factory 2nd or an illicit back-door special.

I pulled the string and ordered a Sunburst Goldtop with P90s. I should see it in two weeks. I'll post a quickie review, but my expectations are not huge.

I've been trying out a Sunbust P90 Goldtop (the name is a fabulous oxymoron) at a local dealer for three weeks now, and I think you'll like it.

The tone is thicker that a single coil guitar (I'm using my USA Tele as reference) but not a thick as humbucker. Really a sweet tone.

Good variation between the pickups- the neck pup is thick and bassy and the bridge pup has a bit of bite to it.

I was impressed/surprised how loud the instrument is unplugged.

Construction is really really good; neck is a nice size; everything is solid, including the electronics. I feel this instrument raises the bar for China imports (Fender, Peavey, listen up!).

Don't forget this is an instrument that lists in the low $400's and sells (at my local expensive dealer) just under three. You can dump that kind of coin on a sleazy weekend and only have embarrasing memories to show for it! /emoticons/default_blink.png

Myself, I'm looking for an import Sunburst with humbuckers for comparison, otherwise the Goldtop will be mine... :angry:
