Hamer Stop Bar Replacment

Question

I bought a '94 Special last year that has very corroded chrome hardware. It has a TOM / Stop Bar setup and I ordered a Gibson OEM tailpiece on Ebay. It came in last week and does not fit on the posts.

If I buy new Gibson posts will they fit in the threaded inserts in the guitar? Or do I need to start over and buy a tailpiece from another manufacturer? I don't want to have to remove the threaded inserts from the guitar.

That is somewhat strange, that the gibson stop tail wouldn't fit the posts. Unless that isn't the original stop tail, or maybe it's a nickel plated one?

Others with more knowledge than me will be in shortly to resolve this. As long as you can get posts that have the same thread pitch as the bushings, you won't need to pull them.

Gibson went with an asian made TOM around 2009ish since they depleted there long standing relationship with Schaller due to non payment issues procured by Henry.

If it says Schaller on the bottom, find some schaller posts, or ream out the hole posts to accommodate the Schaller posts.

The corroded one on the Hamer pictured says Gotoh on the underside. If I buy a Gotoh stop bar with posts it should fit in the inserts, right?

98.73% it should. the plating over there is hit and miss on those TOMS.
