soli'd Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Seeing a couple threads from Jakeboy with clips of 0006 made me think we could use an open call thread to post recordings, demos, gig clips, etc... of your Shishkovs in action- we've got the "Show us..." thread, in this one let's hear 'em. (If there's already one of these I missed it) This is a recent recording of 0033 with this band of the last year, I don't know how I'd classify us, indie? new wave? Anyway, we mostly just record practices and see what we get, but we tried to put together a couple original songs in garageband, this was one of em. Just recorded in a basement with a few vocal overdubs.
Jakeboy Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Good track. I especially dig the vocalist. The whole thing is ethereal.... At least until that Ultimate cranks up and puts some meat on the table! Dig it!
scottcald Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 That sounds great. I like the feel of it.
soli'd Posted September 1, 2016 Author Posted September 1, 2016 Here's a different sound from the same band, the main guitar you hear is the other guitarist's LPC into an AC30 set for somewhat of a trashy tone, the Ultimate is the fuzzy under layer and the 2nd solo near the end. It sounds thinner here but that's the sound of the tonebender MKI fuzz.
Jakeboy Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Dude! That was awesome! I love that song! Great tones! Was the LPC straight into the AC or was there a pedal involved? I have a Mk1 Bender that I am planning for the next original. What a killer fuzz they are! Your tone was rippin', not thin at all. i admire the restraint shown by both guitarists....the space around the verses and chorus are calling out to me for fills...but you guys did it right and let the rhythm guitars cover the fills. A lesson in not overplaying. It fit the song. Good vocals too...good everything. Now where is my fuzz? I need to crank it through the Mesa TA 15 I bought from lucsulla. Oh, what amp were you in? Or did you run the Bender straight to the board?

We just ran his gibby into the ac30 and twiddled the knobs till we got that sorta SKRONK! sound. I think he kicked on a Superbolt with the wah on that 1st solo. I was running the Ultimate into a Behan MK1, into the clean side of my Fargen Bordeaux. It's a sorta improved-upon fender, big fat black face sound. I'll have to get some recordings of 33 into the gain side of that amp, which is kinda dumble meets Marshall, smooth liquid lead sounds, that still can bring the kerrang. Desert island amp for sure.
Jakeboy Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Skronk is exactly right. That Fargen sounds awesome, you asked how to classify you guys...? How does badass sound?!
Jakeboy Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 This is Sugarfire, a new original. 0006 is the solo guitar. Hamer Artist on left, MJT JazzRatT on the right. 0006 was into the bass channel on a Blonde Bassman with a touch of a Tree of Life Big Blue COD clone. https://www.dropbox.com/s/n88zje3obpjqcjr/Sugarfire_Master.wav?dl=0
soli'd Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 It's got a Nuge-jamming-with-Mountain vibe. I dig it!
Jakeboy Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 You have the swagger Serial! It's that 70s thing.....it comes out when I play live too. Hell, it comes out when I record or practice too for that matter.
Jakeboy Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Thanks Soli'd! I used the new Keeley DynoMyRoto pedal on the bass and guitar left. That one was fun to record!

Jakeboy Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I nearly wrote that, Cmatthes! i do find that us Milfordian rockers tend to play a bit on the flashy side when it comes to stage presence.....
