hamerhead
Volto-powered micro board: Left to right: short delay, reverb, long delay, boost, OD1, OD2, and compressor in a 14" x 6" space. Each cluster of 3 knobs = one effect, except the single clear boost knob. Plug in one end, out the other, and you're good to go.

IF, I get this gig, that is what I will get to run my board. Now everything is on batteries, because there is no reason to put the cart before the horse. Not that that has ever stopped me before. Considering that I had to do acoustic/electric/both, sometimes within the same song, it wasn't too bad. So, there's some redundancy in there. Only one extra power and signal connection and the board on the right is self-powered.

I asked my pedaluthier about it to be sure. Should be good for a whole night, but I haven't tried that yet. You can charge it between sets. bubs_42
Nice board Rich, the main guitar player i'm playing with on Wednesday has the same type of road case board. I had one but didn't want to carry it after the first time of moving it loaded.
BadgerDave
This is the board I snuck onto the stage at Bruce's "No Pedalboard" shindig. A technical violation, yes, but, since it's Volto powered, it was as efficient to set up as a single pedal. Left to right: JHS Prestige boost, Mooer Chorus, Mooer delay, Mentone OD/Distortion, tuner, JHS buffer. Cables are Mogami 6" gold. The Mogami cables have the thinnest connectors I've found, allowing for closer pedal positioning. By coincidence ,they also create a nice barrier at the sides of the small pedals, making it less likely for me to move knobs with my foot.
BadgerDave
Here's a shot of the bottom. The second Volto is pretty much redundant. Everything runs on a single battery for hours. I have forgotten to charge it though.

BruceM
19 hours ago, MCChris said: That's the whole point of having a (reasonably sized) pedalboard: for convenience and to keep setup/teardown time to a minimum. Everything's all wired up on a single platform, you just connect power, input, output and go. It's the guys who have to plug/unplug all their individual pedals and worry about how much juice is in their batteries who bog shit down. Don't even get me started about the "front of the amp versus the effects loop" yahoos. If you have a pedalboard and your use of effects isn't 99% hassle-free, you're doing it wrong. Yes, I understand all this, and I admire those guys that have their pedal boards already dialed in. It really does make things convenient if you've got a consistent tone palette. However, I have personal relationships with a few pedal board guys who shall remain nameless (and who don't hang out on the HFC, btw, or I wouldn't be typing this, I'd say it to their face, haha), for whom the pedal board seems to be nothing more than an endless distraction. It often gets in the way of playing actual music. And in my experience, as long as your tone is within 33-1/3% of where you'd like it to be, the song itself is WAY more important than the guitar tone. Especially when your guitar tone is so muddied/pedaled/dialed up that it gets drowned out by your drummer. Ha.
HamerDave
My stomp tools for tonight. I've really come to love the Volto power supplies. They're totally silent (duh, they're batteries) and super reliable. I can run my board for up to six hours on a full charge as long as I don't have every pedal on all the time. I rarely use more than four. I carry a spare pair of them in my "oh s**t" bag but have yet to need them.
LefThanDed
Strictly "G-Rated Pron" (But the case itself was $10 -negotiated- from Camel Pawn in Winston-Salem from a sentimental visit in 2006)
tobereeno
about half my pedals are in front of the amp; other half is in the effects loop. The TC Electronics Petrucci pedal is a multi-effect, so I will sometimes switch between the two available choruses, so that's turning a couple knobs. Otherwise, it's clicking on and off only. I strongly believe that in a band setting, you should have your equipment together and your sounds dialed in, only needing some quick EQ tuning to settle yourself in the mix. Our VOIP telephone system was PoE-powered, until it wasn't. Our routers kept blowing through PoE modules (rest of the router was fine), thereby putting us without telephones. We finally had to get an AC adapter for each telephone. It was interesting to see it mentioned here since our terrible experience was the only time I'd run into it. Must work well in the Fractal units as I've not read of anyone having a problem with their controller.

It was probably a POE switch instead of a router btw. They all have max power output limitations which vary pretty widely depending on price, quality, etc. It was most likely not specked out properly cause we do that day in day out and have single sites with hundreds of phones running on POE switches. Back to the original topic, I've had this setup for four years and so far its been rock solid. Keeping my fingers crossed cause non of it was cheap and I would want to have to replace any of it. Camstone
I just received yesterday a Digitech Luxe de-tuner pedal (from jisham) and re-worked my pedalboard to make room. It replaced a compressor that wasn't getting much use. This is my ziptie-free Holeyboard sitting on it's case. The new pedal sounds killer and I'm looking forward to giving her a test drive at tonight's gig at "Wally's House of Booze" in Wenatchee.

For those of us that like to view threads like this at the office and work for oppressive employers, we tend to not want the word "porn" in our browser history. Edit to add: Oops. I meant "pron" in our browser history. I mean... Shit. Too late. Anyone know a good recruiter?
polara
Do many of ya'll sing? I ask because as I do a ton of harmonies (some of our stuff is pretty much ALL harmonized) so I have always built my pedalboards to be easy to use with just a glance out of the corner of my eye. Brightly-colored pedals (I'm serious, it helps when you're on a dark stage singing and have to switch the fuzz on and the tremolo off) No mini-pedals and don't stuff them too close together Everything in one row unless it's a pedal I seldom use, in which case it can go up top I'd look like Barny Fife trying to roller skate on ice with some of the more complex boards here! And I'd sound like a Japanese bullet train crashing into a music store.
