LED lighting foot controller?

A friend wants to run her own lighting from the stage. She'll be starting with 8 LED par 64 RGBs.

Is there a small, easy-to-use (and I mean 'blonde' easy) light board with a foot-controller out there that might work for her?

Thank you.

there's something I have been looking at. I use an Ipad with OnSong and I use a bluetooth page turner. there is an optional add-on to control Lights DMX with your set list. you can set up a different scene with every viewable page. so every timeyou turn the page you can set up a different scene. Then you could set up a wireless network ie: Airport with a usb/dmx hub and control everything from a bluetooth footswitch to turn pages/change scenes.

there are other options like that, and they all use a computer/tablet in some ways. there used to be a DMX controller that had like 4/6 programmable buttons for scene changes in a stompbox format, but I don't remember much more than that.

ALSO: I have a Line6 Pod that can send midi changes, so if you have a Lightboard that can receive midi you could send control that way as well.

good luck!

First consideration is- does it need to be a coordinated lightshow to a specific Setlist and tunes? Or adding a visual element?

I use OnSong constantly. But not for this. If your friend is already set on using stuff she has (8 led par cans, with t-bars and power), the OnSong app has great connectability, but it's also coordinated with your charts. She would need to buy a dmx converter, an airport express, and configure every gig. Meaning she has to have her Setlist curated and cued on the ipad running OnSong, setup a mobile wireless network (troubleshoot) and setup and tear down. Too many variables for novices, I'd wager.

Id strongly advise against running a system that has that much dependence on connectivity even for Pro-Ams.

My best advice is the chauvet 4-bar. It's stupid simple to set up and use, super light, easy and inexpensive to find, and you can set up two (slave one of them) and use a simple 3-button controller for just Blackout, Presets and Audio trigger. You can get one for about $250 and it's a lifesaver. That's why I bought a second one. It's a serious difference between a "corner of a bar" and a Rock show.

heres an example:

it would take a small person one trip to carry both, each one lighter than a guitar case, minutes to set up and looks great.
