G Man
Damn, who knew that a short scale bass could have so much thump. Picked this up on a trade at a local shop recently. This is the Contemporary series, so MIC but in the only licensed Hofner factory outside of Germany, very well made, center block, German Staple pickups, flats, and lightweight. And what a tone, definitely not a slab bass.
Steve Haynie
A recording studio around here had a Hofner bass on hand because it was supposed to sound perfect for most of the music they recorded.
Disturber
Very cool. And shortscale you say? I'm on the look out for a short scale bass. Will check that one out.
polara
I picked up a Chinese Hofner in a store recently and it was a very nice instrument at a crazy-low price. I don't know if it's the factory, the management, or the team, but some of the Chinese factories are making astonishingly good instruments, and others are still a bit lacking. Glad that one is doing it for you... does it do the McCartney smooth thumping tone I love so much?
G Man
It does indeed get that smooth low end that Macca is so known for, without looking like I'm want to be in a beatles band.😁 And yes, 30" scale, so its almost like playing a big guitar.
