Steve Haynie
It was on the radio that Roy Clark died today at 85. He was part of the reason I wanted a banjo as a kid.
black magic
Ah dang!! I love Roy Clark`s music and playing. I may mostly play metal but I love country and folk music as well.

scottcald
So sorry to hear this. Roy didn't have the same level of general public appeal that Glenn Campbell did, but both of them were players and performers.
Hamerica
Condolences to Roy's family, friends and fans. One of my earliest memories of Roy Clark was an 8 track tape my dad had with Roy leaning on a Rolls-Royce - "I Never Picked Cotton." Seems like yesterday - RIP Roy. shankyboy
I have always wanted to find that album he did with Gatemouth Brown.
G Man
I used to love me some Hee Haw, and he was a big part of why. In a way, it was like my first music based show as a kid. RIP Mr. Clark.
cynic
Dad was a big fan of Roy and Hee Haw, so I was a big fan both as well. Ace Frehley made me want to be a rock star; Roy made me want to play guitar. "Karnikov knows a genius!"
ARM OF HAMER
Brilliant musician on many instruments not just guitar, some guys just have "IT" and ROY certainly did! RIP!

Victor (Fret Friend)
Only came across Roy earlier this year! What a player. Love to hear/watch him...
bigolsparky
I rushed home today to plug in my guitar, in hopes that maybe I had inherited a small piece of his talent...nope. I hope someone got it. Another truly amazing guitarist gone.
Willie G. Moseley
Mr. Clark is in the top four of favorite interviews I ever did. So's B.B. King---both were not just famous, they were icons, and both really made me feel at ease, and they really opened up when I began detailed inquiries about guitars. It's easy to remember Clark for what he termed his "schtick" (a guitar-generated tommy gun effect on "Folsom Prison Blues" comes to mind, as does the Gatemouth Brown stuff) but he could pull off some jaw-dropping moments---a flat-picked "Malaguena" anyone? Jakeboy
That MFer could flat out outplay nearly everybody in the planet. A huge loss. May he RIP as one of the greatest players ever.
Bass Guy Dave
Quite frankly, I do remember pretty vividly as a young kid when I realized I was no longer watching Hee-Haw for Roy Clark and Buck Owens. Before that, it was all about those guys, though. R.I.P.
FGJ
Yup, Hee-Haw fan as a kid here, too. RIP Roy.

Kenny Burrell for sure (at 87 or 88 years old, he's not quite IBS yet, but it's coming...), and Alex Skolnick? Heritage will most likely be IBS or RBS soonly, unless of course they find some more artists. Oh, there's BrentRocks too. RIP Roy, I'll miss you! There seems to be some consensus that at least one part of a Heritage is already IBS.
