robberns
1993 Hamer USA Special, built in Arlington Heights, IL. Cherry Transparent finish, this is a fine example of the Special with a few nice upgrades: • Seymour Duncan P-90 pickups upgraded to Fralin P-90’s (original pickups NOT included) • Stock bridge and tailpiece upgraded to TonePros locking bridge and tailpiece (originals ARE included). Guitar is in excellent condition, no signs of Hameritis at the neck joint but some slight finish lifting on on the underside of the neck where the fingerboard joins the neck. Very minor, does not affect playability. Original frets in excellent condition, still plenty of life in them, no divots. One small indentation on the top near the bridge, tried to show it in the pictures. Some finish swirling as to be expected on a 25-year old guitar. Original hardshell case is in good condition, all latches work. Not interested in any trades, need to thin the collection. $950 shipped in the CONUS. tbonesullivan
NICE!!!! If only it wasn't cherry red.... Not that I don't like it, but I've already got a 96 in that color... with Fralin pickups. Also got a 93, in Candy Apple Red. Good luck with the sale! That will make someone very happy!
Never2Late
Could this be in the realm of the 'thicker-neck' Hamers, a departure from the Sunburst-ATs of the same era?
robberns
Not sure what the parameters are to be considered "thicker neck", but it doesn't feel particularly thin to me.
tbonesullivan
One of these days I'll have to get the measurements off my "thin neck" special from 93. It's... really thin, or at least if feels thin.
robberns
Quickly took my calipers to the neck and it looks to be about .85" at the first fret, which does not seem particularly thin based on other guitars I have.
tbonesullivan
Not all of the 1993s were think. My 93 studio is really nice, and the serial number is only 51 off from my Special. Did did you measure without the strings on, or with the strings? I'll try to take my guitar into work to measure it tomorrow.
black magic
1993 was the transition year for the necks on specials and such. They went form thin to medium. I`ve owned both at one time. They had both necks in the same year.
robberns
Strings off for measurement right behind first fret between the D and G string.
