Gino
I do use a volume pedal in the effects loop sometimes - master vo. on the fly...
Gino
Forgot to mention: works only on serial loops (not parallel loops)!
Dave Scepter
You can also use the effects loop Return control pot as a 'pseudo' master volume control just by jumping the send and return Loop... you can even use a volume pedal
stonge
I've had one of those on my Mesa mark 5:25 for the last couple of years; even a small amp jumps quickly in volume on the low end of the scale. It comes in real handy when mrs. Stonge is watching the game in the next room and doesn't want to use closed captioning lol. Also comes in handy at 3am when everybody else is sleeping. tbonesullivan
Yeah, you see these used a lot on amplifiers that don't have any type of master volume. You can some improvement in tone by driving the preamp harder, though it also depends on the design of the amplifier. The effects loop is usually right after where a channel master volume would be. Most Carvin amplifiers before their V3 did not have any type of overall master volume, so a lot of people would use these.
