Rich_S
We’re doing it again: the 35th Anniversary reunion show by my old ‘80s college frat-parties-and-bars band. We’ll be playing Saturday, June 8th at the Crooked Eye Brewery in Hatboro, PA at the senior-citizen-friendly hours 4:00 - 6:30, after which the Crooked Eye House Band will take over. The material is girl-fronted new-wavey rock from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. A heavy dose of The Pretenders suggests that the red Hamer Sunburst will be played. This will be the 5th time we’ve done this since 2009 and experience has shown that a good time is guaranteed. The members come from as far away as Dallas and San Francisco so it’s always a fun get-together with old friends we seldom see. Our audience has increased every time we play; what started as a college 25th class reunion has expanded to include family, neighbors, coworkers, even a growing contingent of old friends from my high school. And YES, we actually rehearse the day before the show. So, if any of you in Philly can make it, come on out and introduce yourself to the fat, middle-aged guitar player. And if any of you Philly natives have “family business” to attend to back home, that would be the weekend to do it.
Rich_S
I guess if it's on Facebook, it's for real:https://www.facebook.com/events/356483858340817/ I hope to see all the Philly (and nearby) HFC folks there. It's gonna be big dirty fun.

Afterwards, we can either catch a bus back to the nursing home, or stick around for food, beer. and the Crooked Eye Band. They're a mix of musicians from various local acts who get together as the "house band" once a month. Our singer and I played with their drummer briefly 30 years ago, and he subbed for our drummer at our last reunion in 2016. Won't say "no", but at this point it's not likely.
Rich_S
I understand. Fortunately, the reunion weekend got neatly in between two graduations for us this year. Where’d your son go to school?

Rich_S
Last call. Work got crazy this week and I’ll be too busy packing tomorrow night to post this. Thursday morning, I hit the road to Philly (Love that Northeast Extension!) for three days of music, booze, food, and friends.
Rich_S
Forgive me my forum bothers, for I have sinned. I did not play my Hamer at the show on Saturday. Work unexpectedly prevented me from a lot of needed preparation last week, and I felt I was scrambling just to hang on and play the gig. I've always played my Telecasters in this band, and I didn't want the added distraction of an unfamiliar guitar. Lame excuses aside, the gig was a triumph. We played two sets, 4:00 - 6:30 and then the house band took over. The show, our fifth reunion in 10 years, was the best yet. The room was packed, and people were up dancing and making noise. Lots of old friends from high school, co-workers, neighbors, and family were in attendance. Management asked us back to play a full night sometime, which might not even be possible since we only do this every couple of years, and we're spread all over the country. The owner even slipped us some $$$, despite the fact that we were doing this show for ourselves, for free. The entire weekend was as blast. We rehearsed for about 6 hours on Friday, in a photo studio graciously provided by a friend of mine since grade school. The singer and I stayed at the bassist's house and we cooked out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, sitting around talking and drinking until the wee hours.
