bubs_42 Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 I've been following Nick for years, and consider that Silvertide Album to be one of my Top 10 in guitar tones.

No fizzy fuzzy big n buzzy 😎 Actually, I go to see Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers about once a year. He may have named his first album this, but his lead guitarist has a fantastic tone. His is generic pedal into marshall, but whatever. His job was to write good songs. Nick Perri does sound great. And that dirt isn't all power tubes. He's getting it off his board. At least in the second video. Listen to the repeats, the echos have the same amount of overdrive in each one, even though they're lower volume than the initial attack. As an aside, they sound like tape emulation to me, they have the analog degeneration in the later echoes that reminds me of the El Capistan when you crank up the wow and flutter and tape age a bit. (It's not an El Capistan, there are shots of his board, but it's something analogue) Really a lovely tone all around. Fits the style, warm but not too muddy, and kind of makes me think he's listened to plenty of Pink Floyd in his formative years.

I haven’t seen them for a while but always a fan. I met his guitar player when they where playing in a bar. Great guy forget his name but do recall Jack Daniels was present and he was playing a LP thru a Fender Blues Jr. Tone was awesome and he sat in the mix crazy good!! I confess I only listen to the 1st video... my bad!!
Moose Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 His name is Jim.... crap. Jim something. Duncan? He introduced himself a couple of years ago before a show but I forget his last name. Really nice guy and a good guitarist. I think they make their money off of swag at shows, so they must be good at hanging out with the fans as he seemed to know more than a few regulars, including one of my friends. San Diego is just an overnight bus ride from Phoenix, so they've been playing the Belly Up since the mid -90s. They definitely have a loyal following.
