I have just chatted with @901gtr about meeting at the Mannheim Guitar Summit from 27.09. – 29.09.2019 | Rosengarten Mannheim.

Guitar galore, I expect a few HFC members popping up there.

Hence let us know your plans so we'll organize a meetup.

Possibly have a EU-HFC meeting organized for the evening?

The new Hamer are listed presenting. Not that this is of special interest for the most. However, as long as the name is active, it keeps the brand in minds. Actually, I was surprised that they are marketing over here.

It just hits my mind, is anyone from abroad in the wider Frankfurt region and would like to join?

  • 2 weeks later...

The Summit is over. I had a nice weekend in guitar. Not only had I built my own compressor pedal and joined a master class of German jazz guitarist Max Frankl, but also met Hardrockracer and 901gtr and some other fellows I have met in kind events over the years. It was great to have a show on everything guitar that's missing from the big Frankfurt Musikmesse for years.

Laziness and enjoyment hindered to make pics this time. Sorry about that!

Alright, this is it, my new handwired compressor pedal built from the Moody Sounds kit. It features true bypass, sustain and distortion alongside volume. It was built in almost 3.5 hours. However, I had to take an extra round as I forgot to check the direction of the transistors at first, although I knew about. I cared about polarity for the capacitors right before I continued with the transistors. But it had been a morning hours build. But finally, I made it right. You can't really see which transistors had been replaced.

Let me recap, I have seen the new Hamers. Although it may not be of interest to many or most, I must say the build quality is superb. Guitars are made in Indonesia, built flawless and appear pretty much the same as I remember from the late Indonesian built XT line. I had these in my hands at Musikmesse years ago. The sales representative explained that there is a chance of bringing the brand back to the market as there are quite some people remembering the old brand. However, with young people it might become difficult. If sales numbers are progressing there would be a chance to have a custom shop in the USA again. Anyways, I think it is a good thing of keeping the brand alive that will help everyone.

Also interesting I thought were:

http://www.zerberus-guitars.de (had played one with a white carrara marble top)

http://www.pagelli.com (their greatest design is not on the HP yet)

http://www.gamechangeraudio.com (very interesting technique)

https://www.greensound.info/ (excellent room sounding cabinets)

https://www.thimbleslide.com/ (Quite a neat tool. I have bought one)

Then there was a 45 minute presentation from Paul Gilbert. Which was nice apart from the word Ibanez in every 2nd sentence. He also played the evening concert on the electric party on Saturday which I had not joined.

Even better has been the presentation from Aleksandr Misko. He has about 5 pickups of different types built in his guitar, plus an octaver pedal making his guitar a 6 channel stereo sound device! A piece of reverb here and there and it sounds like a full blown orchestra. Amazing.

Oh yes, don't forget to check the site. It had been quite some program.
