gorch
Understood, sales season is back on. I was just hunting in the virtual instruments area, although, I had decided being done on it. Hbom
gorch Dude. If you haven't fallen into the Lovepedal SNS hole yet. Be aware. Be very aware. It's not a sale. It's an addiction! https://lovepedalcustomeffects.myshopify.com/
django49
I am a big fan of the Super Six (SRV), but got the version with the built in boost......It makes it that much more versatile. Meanwhile, an Amp Eleven for $70? Hard to believe anyone would be unhappy with that.
LordsoftheJungle
I got sucked in for the OD11 @ $50,,, trying to resist the other deals. Any consensus favorites?

I can't say about percentage of discount. But when I look at the used sale sites, Reverb, eBay, Dave's Guitar, Guitar Center Used. All of the used LPs are listed at higher prices than I paid new at a SNS. Sometimes 2-3x the price!

I also have no "inside knowledge". But it would not be unusual for retailers to be able to buy products for 50-60% of list price. How else do they run their periodic sales of 15-20% off, sometimes more? Selling direct, with an accumulated following, has little in the way of marketing costs. The prices asked must be enough to cover the direct time and materials cost of production, plus overhead (rent, utilities, whatever). And getting people to sign up for pedals TO BE BUILT cuts the cost and risk of carrying an inventory. Which makes it easier to "cut out the middleman". Risks to us, as consumers?......"Damn, I did not even know I needed one of those, but I better snatch it before the offer expires (at any time)" Yes, I do have a few more than I "need". zenmindbeginner
Wow, the sale that you can only participate in if you signed up months ago as they currently have a "broken" email sign up system and aren't planing on fixing it anytime soon? That sale? Most of these SNS sale customers are turnaround specialists who take the pedal straight to TGP or Reverb. Sean is just flooding the used market with Lovepedals. I can't see this as being a sustainable business practice... hence the "broken" email system. I've got a Lovepedal GC SE red face ZenDrive and an SNS Mosferatu... I've also got an original Hermida signed ZenDrive and Hermida ZenDrive 2. Sort of interested in the Blackface Deluxe, Super Six/SRV stuff though
RobB
I’m not so sure about that, zen. He has a lot of retail accounts, too. I got my Echophonic Jr new from a dealer. I think the SNS promotion is his way of keeping some sort of buzz going since he has so few catalog models on his website I purchased a JTM pedal from a member here for the SNS price. django49
A slightly different take on the business model. Clearly, he can produce at a profit (meaning cover all parts and labor, plus allocated overhead) by cutting out the middle men and having only periodic sales where HE can control the supply/demand mix. No need to pay third parties for distribution, carry inventories on speculation as to future demand OR pay for advertising....Build in batches and cut off sales when it reaches his current limit as to what he can crank out and ship within a reasonable time to satisfy expectations. When he sells though the traditional outlets, he would still have to charge enough to cover his costs. So, they then mark them up (quite likely double his selling price) then sell them in dribs and drabs, often discounting them 20% or more at periodic "sales". Who wins? And the scarcity (real or perceived) does a couple things....It gives incentive to sign up to get a notice of every sale. It makes people want to jump on something when it becomes available, as the sale can end at any time.....Which means a goodly number of us jump on things we might take a pass on if we knew we had time to "sleep on it". I think the "broken" on line access is a rational part of the strategy......,He does not have to bother with orders until heis again ready. And if people can make a buck by flipping, that underscores the value and makes it easier to sell more in the future---I mean the market is clearly not saturated, nevermind those amongst us that already have a drawerful of pedals we have "outgrown". . Meanwhile, the flippers spend God only knows how much time and effort in selling individual pedals to make a relatively small amount. I am with you on the BF Deluxe and Super Six. Great stuff at a reasonable price.
mrjamiam
I think the email is for notification, not participation, although I'm on the email list and could be wrong. I did make my first SNS purchase prior to being on the email list, though. Thinking from the producer's perspective, what's so bad about the resellers paying for their inventory up-front and holding the risk of tying their money up until they sell it on? Sean got paid, and knew how many to build. He may not sell as many at his "retail" price if there are plenty of discounted "pre-owned" ones available, but if he doesn't care, then neither do I. If I use an OD pedal it is usually for a really low volume gig where even my Princeton or Deluxe are too loud so that I can get a little grind without cranking the amp. Probably the only other pedal that interests me is his Rubber Chicken.
