My Cort Guitars demo (2HB super strat)

Recommended Posts

It appears it was dropped a day ago. It looks and sounds good... if youtube did anything to the audio or video, it was minimal. The clean guitar intro piece got a little more compressed but the rest of it sounds pretty close to the 24 bit uncompressed WAV file I handed youtube.

I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out. The backing track sounds great. I think I am getting closer to the mixes I hear in my head... the cymbals are always a bitch and I think I tamed them enough to finally allow the resonance of the kit shine through.

Sort of inspired by Tim Pierce for the solos... I copped a Tim Pierce lick from his Rick Springfield "Love Somebody" solo and Tim's slide solo from the Goo Goo Doll's "Iris" crept into my consciousness enough for me to play two slide solos in standard tuning.

Hopefully y'all dig it and enjoy rocking out to some original music while looking at some filthy budget-guitar porn.

Wow Zen!! You make that sound like a $5000.00 Custom Guitar!!! The video really makes the guitar look nice too!!! If Cort doesn’t like that video promoting their guitars they’re obviously looking at the world thru a layer of bowel tissue!!

GREAT JOB!!!!

P.S. I find myself stealing Tim Pierce licks all the time!! They’re just so tasty!!

It sounds absolutely fantastic!!  :-) Great sounding demo. And your playing is, as usual, both "Cort and spark"! Love it!

Good work. Rick Springfield, who woulda thought.

What pickups are in that guitar?

A fine guitarist like Zen can make anything sound great proving once again least IMHO it is the guy playing the guitar not the guitar..

Great work as always, zen!   Cort makes a lot of the overseas produced stuff for many manufacturers, including PRS.  Seems like a good guitar for the cash.

Love it, Z.  Another lesson in taste, artistry and virtuosity from one of my fave guitarists.

You do the shooting, too? Damn. They edit and do the post-production, titles?

  • Love the black background and t shirt and strap. You focus entirely on the guitar and hands. You really know your lighting and lenses, sir.
  • Thanks for being one of a handful of demo guys who plays not only some fast passages, but throws in some slower stuff, full chords, twang, slide.
  • And you don't go go full ENGL saturated gain. Shocking! You actually let the sound of the guitar come out.
  • Objectively, I think Cort did a fine job on the length and any edits. I know you felt it was at risk of being butchered, but from the point of a consumer, that was enough to get me excited about the guitar, and if anything was long. People zone out after 3:00, sad but true.

Pretty cool guitar. Wish they finished the back and sides in blue too, or even black, but I like the idea and lack of strong trees, switching.

Great job, as always Geoff!  Congrats on another fine demo!

I dug it so much I wanna ask what you thought of the guitar, but I don't wanna put you on the spot with regards to a customer.  :D

Well, that’s the best guitar playing anyone is going to hear today! - you can play any/everything!

...and composed it? Aaaaand video and edited it?

Formidable.

Crazy outstanding Zen! Great playing as usual !  You inspire me anytime I listen to you play. You really do.

I particularly like one vibrato bar shake you did where the note trails off into Reverb. Just perfect.

That Cort  reminds me of the late 90s USA Peavey Limited  series. Same KILLER pickup switch selections....you get buckers plus Strat and Tele tones. Plus the body is reminiscent of the Limited. Makes me wonder. Same faux binding too.

Cort will sell a boatload of these thanks to you.
