BobHamer
We just got the beat up red special and a beat up black one, so something has to go. This is in really good condition, I will work with HFC members as far as final price. My camera sucks so if you need better/ more specific pictures, ask and I will try. https://reverb.com/item/29683916-hamer-special-1984-black-with-gold-hardware

crunchee
How much better/worse condition is the black Special compared to the red Special? In what ways?
ARM OF HAMER
Cool guitar! A gold sustain block is a rarity.........................I almost bought a 1980 [If I remember right] Black Sunburst early on when I joined the HFC that had gold hardware. GLWTS! BobHamer
You can look on reverb we bought the beat up black one last night. We are going to leave it as is, it is an honest relic, played hard and put away wet!

It sports one of the smallest necks i have ever seen on a guitar built for adults. https://reverb.com/item/29657250-hamer-special-usa-1981-black?utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=share
BobHamer
Just to be clear, you are talking about the beat up one that I havent gotten yet. Not the one I'm selling.

(Well, except for the non-checkerboard headstock.)

The neck is transparent. (ETA: NOT the one that's for sale).

BobHamer
Just got the 1981 Black special, measured the neck thickness it is .736 on the first fret and .847 on the twelfth fret. I agree with you guys, this is the thinnest Hamer Special neck I have ever seen. after a few adjustments it plays really well. Still not sure if I like a really thin neck, I'll have to play it a while to see if its a keeper.
