crunchee
No affiliation. DGS just got four in within the last week, three on the same day. Methinks the previous owner (or their heirs) is divesting themselves of gear...a sign of things to come in 2020? https://davesguitar.com/products/gibson/les-paul-deluxe-76-5/ https://davesguitar.com/products/gibson/les-paul-deluxe-76-4/ https://davesguitar.com/products/gibson/les-paul-deluxe-early-70s-3/ https://davesguitar.com/products/gibson/les-paul-deluxe-80-3/
cmatthes
I’ve owned some great Les Pauls over the years. The one that I sold that has haunted me ever since is a black ‘78 Deluxe - a factory second - that I bought for $200. Best playing and best sounding LP from any era I’ve had (‘50s Goldtop, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s LPs.
cynic
Man I love a LP with a three-piece top. Yeah, I spent way too many hours as a kid staring at Ace's guitar.
BubbaVO
Now I want to listen to some Thin Lizzy.

Is that a refinned goldtop, or did they factory burst 3 piece tops in the 70s? I always thought a 3 was a sure sign of a refin on a goldy or black beauty, but maybe that changed later on... It happened and we all let it happen.

tbonesullivan
WHOOOOA! Three Piece necks and volutes, oh my! Would those have also had the pancake bodies? I'm sure the maple neck makes a bit of a difference, but not a HUGE difference. The question is how bad is it under the goof rings... At least none of these have those horrible plastic pieces they would use around the bridge and tailpiece studs to hide how horrible the paint job and/or installation was. I would wager all four of these are great examples of LP Deluxes. If a guy has four, he probably has more.
topekatj
DANG! Gorgeous mahogany on the back of the natural finish specimen (#2). Too bad it’s just the ‘bottom of the pancake stack’!
cynic
Don’t be scared of the pancake. I have a ‘73 Deluxe that’s as fine a Les Paul as you’ll ever find.
