Hamer finish

There is an apples-and-oranges thread on the Gear Page discussing the relative virtues of Hamers and Hubers.

One subpart is a dispute over what Hamer uses to finish their guitars. Two people say it's pure nitrocelluose. My understanding is that Hamer uses nitro-based color coats, but that it uses urethane for the final clearcoat(s).

(I am in the camp that it doesn't matter if it's thin, but in any event, if anyone has a better idea, feel free to weigh in.)

Edited to add: The Hamer tour states that the company uses an "acetate based lacquer," which I believe means not nitrocellulose, but as I indicated in the Gear page thread, I am an idiot.

Stike is the best to speak about this (and he has before). He's a finish guy extraordinaire and he's actually spoken to the Hamer finish guys.
