John E
There is an apples-and-oranges thread on the Gear Page discussing the relative virtues of Hamers and Hubers. One subpart is a dispute over what Hamer uses to finish their guitars. Two people say it's pure nitrocelluose. My understanding is that Hamer uses nitro-based color coats, but that it uses urethane for the final clearcoat(s).(I am in the camp that it doesn't matter if it's thin, but in any event, if anyone has a better idea, feel free to weigh in.)http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthrea...60&goto=newpostEdited to add: The Hamer tour states that the company uses an "acetate based lacquer," which I believe means not nitrocellulose, but as I indicated in the Gear page thread, I am an idiot.http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=workshoptour&tournum=
sw686blue
I was going to post the same question concerning the finish on Hamers.
serial
Stike is the best to speak about this (and he has before). He's a finish guy extraordinaire and he's actually spoken to the Hamer finish guys.
