Best impression of him I've heard, next to my brother's.....

"Hi, I'm Dave Matthews ... (in coheirent mumblings)...Boobies (Laughs)"

I honestly liked the first 2 cd's and then it just kinda went down hill from their after they gained superstardom. Sadly the band is far more talented than what dave is.

Huge Dave Matthews fan here  If only because I started out on acoustic, and the challenging rhythm and hand twisting chord voicings made me a much better player... as popular music goes, really cool jazz-jam sounds... the older stuff always seems to be better tho

Hey guys,

Dave Matthews is not my favorite musician. I tried to be open minded and listen to his music. I can only tolerate a couple of songs myself and that's it. Definitely not my cup of tea, but the rest of his band is talented.

I thought the first album was cool and original sounding. Then everything else they did afterword sounded the same.

I used to work at a record store and when one of their albums came out I would hand it to the customers who wanted it before they could ask for it. They always said "That's what i came here for! How'd you know that's what I wanted?" It's simple all DMB fans do at least 3 of the following, usually more:

1. Wear Khaki's

2. Wear baseball caps with the rim bent way too far

3. Wear button up shirt's with lots of small vertical stripes

4. Wear oversized shirts in ridiculous colors like bright orange (often under their vertical striped shirts in cold weather)

5. Wear sandles

6. Have facial hair that looks out of place, but is trimmed way too neat

7. Drive Honda Civics

No one knows why they do these things, but whenever I mention this to people they all say, "Yeah! They do do that!!!!"

DMB shares a similar characterisitc to Cold Play in everything they do sounds exactly the same (except Cold Play sounds much better I think). The other day a friend of mine and I were talking about Cold Play which went something like:

Me: I like that Cold Play song

Friend: Which one?

Me: It doesn't matter, they're all the same.

Friend: Yeah! They are!

Me: It's a good song in small doses though...

Friend: Yeah, but every album is like one epic song!!!

Very funny about the DMB profiling.

A: You know how I know you're gay?

B: How?

A: You listen to Coldplay.

"I can't change the radio station fast enough when one of his "songs" comes on. "

+1 .

Also can't flip the TV channel fast enough if he's on in concert, crooning his mumbled almost unrecognizable tone-slurred Blaah Blaah into the microphone.

The "new" Bruce Springsteen is doing the same thing to me now, which has turned me off of him, after he was one of my top fav's, back in the 70's. He has started infusing his concerts with gospelizing, preaching and "Holy Rolling" to be as much of a personal religious experience as a musical concert. I find this to be really annoying.

He sucks shit through a straw. I can't change the radio station fast enough when one of his "songs" comes on.

I don't know how many radios I've nearly busted doing that exact thing. And Coldplay, too.

I'd rather jam unsharpened pencils in my ears.

did you watch that "you know how i know you're gay?"

scene in the special features (of 40 yearold virgin)?

in the movie its only 2 lines, but they do about 20 of

'em in the outtakes, its hilarious!

you know how i know you're gay? because your dick tastes like shit.

It's as if my wife and I are the greatest modified "Name That Tune" game players of all time when it comes to Dave Matthews songs... I can change the channel in less than 1 second worth of notes... Okay, change that dial (name that tune)!

Being from Virginia and going to college during DM's "rise from obscurity" years, I have a lot of friends who love him. Also have lots of friends who hate and rip on him. It's more schtick now than pure hatred for me. I could care less anymore. Just don't make me listen to his songs, please!
