bobbycheetah
Hello. It’s been a while since last post. I have MIK (early-mid 90’s a,k.a. "the good ones") Hamer Slammer Series Daytona. Still in excellent shape. I am thinking about replacing the tuners, pups, pots and 5-way switch. !st question: anyone currently have one and perfectly happy with original stock? Tuners - opinions on keeping the stock tuners vs replacing? I seem to recall reading posts stating that they are not very good, etc. Anyone ever install height-compensated tuners (which I think eliminates the need for the piece that does the string bend before the nut?) Pickups - I’m thinking about a stacked humbucker for bridge (hoping with option to split) and standard single-coils for mid and neck. Any opinions on brand - I know that can be an endless debate, but just any red flags (stay away from these, or these are good/solid/reliable, etc). I’ve heard that the stock pups are “cheap”, but I’ve not developed an ear to say “that one is good, that one is bad”, etc. Thank you in advance for your time
Brooks
GFS Lil Killer bridge, GFS alnicos for the other 2. Sound great and won't cost more than the guitar is worth.
