zorrow
Steve Vai might have... or have not invented a new guitar trick for his 60 birthday, but boy there’s some serious playing here in this “Candle Power” piece —look:
Rich_S
I saw someone refer to this as “Stevie Ray Vai” but I’m gonna go with “Sultans Of Shred”.
Travis
Yeah, watched that on his birthday, the 6th. I just about gave up playing forever...
Steve Haynie
Vai looks so casual in that video. That must have been easy to play.
gorch
This is actually where I’m heading to. I might just die before reaching it. Fantastic playing, as usual. I can’t wait for his upcoming classical pieces. The sound theories were brilliant.
crunchee
Very cool, but watching and listening at the same time also makes me a little seasick. That green sunburst Ibanez doesn't help. Where's my Dramamine?
HAMERMAN
I liked it but I kept waiting for him to kick on the overdrive and let it rip. I think this is a great example of Steve playing with a lot of emotion: Steve Vai - Aching Hunger
Jakeboy
That was cool. I dig his monkey grip Stratalike too....

Pieman
Doesn't Vai look like the Christian Bale/Ken Miles character in Ford vs Ferrari?

LucSulla
That's super cool, but Jerry Donahue does something very, very similar to what he is calling "joint shifting." Jerry didn't know that pedal steel was a thing when he was young and listening to country and just figured out how to do it on a normal guitar. Thundersteel
It helps to have really long fingers like these guys have. Mine are just the opposite.
DBraz
Incredible technique. Everything from his circular vibrato through to his weird rising bends. But, these days, I find Vai nigh on unlistenable for anything more than a few minutes despite how clearly amazing he is as a guitarist. Having said that thanks for sharing!
