Andrew
Call me a traitor, but that neck joint looks amateur. Those last Arlington Heights guitars were not Hamer's finest.

Steve Haynie
The heel on other Standards were blended into the body. Did that shelf look take less time to finish the shaping? Did it cut an hour of labor? The heel carve still follows the rounded part of the body under the heel.

Ua D
That one has gone up for sale 3 times or so in the past year and half. The high e tuner was all crooked and Looked like it had been whacked out of shape when it was first for sale. It was on craigslist if I remember correctly. I f you look closely you’ll see the tuner has a hole right next to the screw. I don’t know structurally how much this affected anything but I’d want to see it up close first. Ua D
Notice the hole next to the screw and the crack extending away from it.

And speaking of nasty smacks, bumps & dings... Some time ago when this first appeared for sale, I asked if there was any damage to the exposed wood on the upper bout. I never got a response... Ua D
Instead of the rubber strip on the lower side of the Flying Vees, they should have put one around that corner.
gorch
Still a nice looking Standard. A bit pricy for my taste. I’d put a set of FilterTrons it. And possibly a pickguard.

crunchee
Years ago, I once had a '97 "rounded heel" Standard like this one, it had a two-piece body and what looked to me like an original white pickguard. I also once had what I called a Standard Standard (you read that right) with a squared heel, IIRC that one was a '96 with NO pickguard and ONE piece mahogany body, dot neck, and no top veneer or binding, in plain Jane natural finish. Methinks I shoulda kept that, as I've not seen another one.
