Menehune 372
MacArthur Park. I just visited YouTube to remind myself if the Anthony Newley or Richard Harris version was the most awful. Couldn't find the Newley version, which likely means it's the worst. Edited January 7 by Menehune Extra spaces! Damn extra spaces!

DaveL 2,223
I would have to say we built this city. Not only is it horrid. Is starshit trying to say their music is responsible for building an actual city? are people going to take to the streets in the name of this rock and roll song. Pompous. I just can’t believe that Peter wolf, who represents Boston rock and roll as well as anybody had something to do with writing that monstrosity

To say otherwise is revisionist history, and to latch on to Johnny Cash because Rick Rubin and Trent Reznor did is pathetic. 3
zenmindbeginner 1,598
Bro Country is indeed Country Music. Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line are bonafide country music artists. it’s like saying Gangsta Rap isn’t hip hop because it’s masculine oriented and commercially successful. I’d also like to add the fact that Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line’s fans are overwhelmingly female... same with Jason Aldean and Luke Combs. Country Culture is widely misunderstood by those with no experience within it. Edited January 6 by zenmindbeginner

That said... country culture does indeed value brevity and simplicity... complexity and depth of substance is acceptable as long as it’s wrapped in an outer layer of simplicity. but then again... Coastal elites seem like rather simple people with complex veneers. Edited January 6 by zenmindbeginner

More times than I can remember I have flat out refused to play that song. I always really disliked the song then I was less experienced at guitar I had to audition for a garage band. Yes, you read that correctly, an audition for a garage band. So, the jerk off lead guitar player says nothing else but "play Simple Man". It was like a F***ing pop quiz! I didn't know the song because I didn't like it and therefor had never played it. I looked at him, looked around the room and packed up my guitar and left. I hate that F***ing song!!!!
