hamerhead
Yeah, I'm old. Got my wife an Onkyo 6-disc changer for Christmas (same as the one in the guitar room that works great) and the damn thing skips on any and every disc. I am deeply saddened by the occasion. So it's going back. Before I start shopping again, do any of y'all have a clean, functional changer you'd like to unload? Hit me up. Thanks. Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame
Is there any reason you don't just rip them to mp3s?
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame
Aside from that, tho, it's probably a mis-aligned laser, which is probably a rare occurrence, and you just got the bad one. If the earlier one worked fine, just get another Onkyo. I've heard good things about them, and it is unlikely to have two bad ones in a row. Punkavenger
I found a high end Sony from 1990 in mint cond. on Reverb for $90. Damn thing is incredible. Speaking of Reverb, the CD changer even has reverb!

hamerhead
Hey! Shut up, butthole. Even with these wore out tired old ears I can still hear what sounds better. And do you even know how hard it is to find a hand-crank CD player??

The St Vinnie's in Verona gets a nice rotation of CD players, at least they did before Covid. Take a Sunday drive, no Packers tomorrow. What else you got to do? Toadroller
Reverb/Goodwill/Ebay are great places for a 15 year old CD changer. Or, no offense, antique shops, which these days aren't so much antiques shops as they are indoor flea markets.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame
Another good source is probably Estate Sales, if your area has them. Rich old people are more likely to have a high quality multiple disc changer, and at an Estate Sale, they go cheap because no one really wants them. Toadroller
Last summer my dad was going to throw one out, so I took it. I got home and Mrs. Toadroller told me to give it to the contractor working on our house. Easy come, easy go.
