Bluesking Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 The gear purge continues. Next up is THE amp for rock players - a vintage '81 JCM 800 combo. It is in fantastic condition considering it's 25 years old. Features all original components (no mods), including the Celestion 65s (superior to the 70s they used shortly after). It was just gone over by a nationally known amp tech (who will remain nameless) and it was given two new input jacks along with the checkup. Here's the lowdown: 1. EL34s 2. Celestion G1265s 3. Vertical inputs 4. Serial # ends in "F" = 1981 5. Tolex in good shape - a few small tears, but easily fixed with a little glue 6. Grill cloth has three tears in it - visible in the pics, but aren't that serious. 7. Face plate in super shape - no lettering has worn off 8. It has some weight to it, so shipping will be pricey. I've adjusted the "shipped" price to reflect a $75 shipping charge. I'm selling because I just don't use it much, and my ears are getting "older" - I prefer 6L6 amps now that are more versatile for gigs. This amp does only one thing, but it does it well. You can't beat it for rock tones - everything from Cream up to modern rock. It is not a high gain amp, but will do it with a quality pedal. I'm able to conjure up Angus and Jimi fairly easily, and some Sabbath and G'N'R when I've had a few beers. Payment by USPS Money Order or Paypal (you pay the fees). Please no trades - cash is king. Feel free to make offers, but ensure that they are reasonable! No lowballers - I don't NEED to sell this, so I won't accept crazy offers. Lots of feedback here, Ebay (Bluesking89) and over at the Gear Page.
Bluesking Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 I forgot add - I might be open to trades for certain USA Hamers:1. Specials (P90 or otherwise)2. Sunbursts3. Toward an "Aceburst"?4. T-51sThanks..........
MCChris Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Sold to SirDan!!Thanks! LOL!Don't even THINK about showing up to MWJ without it.
Rockola Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Ooooooooooh....amp envy. Looks to be in great shape, too. If there was one thing I could change about my combo, it would be to have those 65s instead of 70s.Dang.s.
sirDaniel Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 The post made me sweat at work...alot.What else was there for me to lust after. I have an AC30HW, '67DR, VAC V1, 2 microcubes, GNX4. The only "hole" in the arsenal is now plugged.I must say, having an ADA preamp/mesa poweramp only made me more thing about how cool that JCM800 is going to be.You said 50W minimum this year, right?Badger, will this fit in that foreign gear hauler of yours?Do teles sound any good in these?Hmmm.... liquidate....what to liquidate....how much are in-laws getting on eBay these days? (Shhhh, quiet Duncans)
tomteriffic Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Damn, that was fast. And I was kind of looking for something like that.
Bluesking Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 I'd suggest bringing your earplugs up to the MW Jam when SirDan shows up with the JCM 800. It will kill your lawn when you crank it. Thanks to SirDan for an easy sale and don't let him fool you into thinking he paid full price either........ Have fun up there - wish I was able to make it!
Guest Mike Lee Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Maybe I should bring my Fender VK to MWJ this year. It'll get just as loud as the Marshall and still stay (somewhat) clean. Earplugs AND Earmuffs required.

sirDaniel Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 yaba! That means MCChris will handle ALL the vocals this year because the only thing you'll hear from the PA is"Welcome...", "who's pluggin' in next?", and "thanks everyone, ga night"
