Boss Hogg
So I liked my new Hamer Special so much, I took a chance on a Hamer Bass. I’m loving this thing. Big neck profile, 1 5/8” nut width…super smooth feel - almost plays itself. I haven’t plugged it in yet, as my buddy has my Ampeg until the weekend. I am by no means an expert, so any insight as to originally is appreciated. I’m assuming that the knobs are replacements, but I believe the pickups are original. If the electronics look modified, let me know. The gold foil must be aftermarket, as it’s covering the holes for the control cover (which I do no have). If the knobs are not original, and anyone knows where I might get the correct ones, as well as a control cavity cover, please let me know.
mrjamiam
Yeah, those knobs are not likely original. But the original type were often replaced and not too easy to come by anymore. However, you can enjoy the hell out that with different knobs. Congrats!
RobB
Nice one! Original case...great score. I’m not sure if the active electronics are stock. The copper shielding definitely is added. Amazing find either way.

I’m having trouble finding any concrete info about the electronics other than that they used Dimarzio P & J pickups, which look just like the ones in mine. crunchee
Very nice score indeed! I'm not sure about the correct source for the knobs (maybe somebody here knows); but for an '82 Cruisebass, I think they used Gibson-style 'top hat' knobs in black. Steve Haynie
@crunchee here is a Hamer ad photo to back you up on what kind of knobs were originally used.

Boss Hogg
Update…I still haven’t had enough time to really put the bass through its paces yet, but man, the neck is just perfect…
mathman
I LOVE my 83 USA Cruise. Perfect neck and good variety of sounds from the neck and bridge pickups. Try combining them using the volume knobs set at different levels.
