How do I date the Hamer pots?

There is an eight digit number on

each pot. Which of the digits is

year and which is month?

Any idea what the other digits mean?

One of the pots in my '79 Sunburst reads: 1377851

137 is the manufacturers EIA Code (CTS)

78 is the year

51 is the week of the year in which the component was made.

cool one of my Standards, Whackhead on the left, has 1 original pot. it appears, dated from 30th week of '77. While Sherry Baby my other Standard has 1 readable out of two original pots. in her. It says it's a '78 from the 31st. week based on your info. 137 other code. I know Sherry is from October of '79 basically and was told the other was from Spring of '78 by the original owner. It is 4 numbers before Rick Nielsen's Mandocello, not that that means much in Hamer number history it can seem, so that seems to wanna make it a lil earlier. Wonder which Mandocello he used on the first LP. IIRC that was recorded in late '77.
