Sugartune Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Has anyone ever used a sustain block on a hard tail Tele before? Looking at the saddles it appears that there’d be a downward travel towards the neck. Further exaggerated when radius is considered. Is that a big deal or something to avoid altogether?
Steve Haynie Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 I think the height of the sustain block is going to be a problem. You might have to tilt the Tele neck with shims for it to work.
hamerhead Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 I think I read somewhere that the original bridges on the first Sunbursts were Strat hardtail bridges with the shim underneath, or at least modeled after the Strat hardtail bridge. A Sustain Block would be great on a Tele set up for slide but maybe bad for anything else. Tilting the neck also means raising the pickups pretty far to be in the proper location. You could route the body so the Block sits down into it about 1/8"..... Hbom Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 I've been meaning to post this but wanted to do a hole comparison with a tele bridge. Still haven't done that but here's some pics of the bridge off of, I think, 7 0124.

There's a Callaham Strat hardtail bridge on there already and it works great. Was just trying to determine if I had any real use for the sustainblock I bought last year when John Mann did that run initially. Turns out I don't. lol. Thank you for the info and suggestions Much appreciated.
