Same here.  I've tried to like them, but I prefer something more like a "real" Strat...

The knock on Pacifica's is that Nathan likes them.  I'm just not sure I could get past that.

I can't be the only one.

We're both from Hampton Roads.

Has the water been checked down there in the last decade or so?

Is Year of the Strat a Hallmark holiday? Will there be a special section in the cards?

No, but there will be a movie on the Hallmark network starring Lacey Chabert as a lovelorn marketing executive, who leaves the big city on the heels of a bad breakup with a longtime boyfriend to return to her family's little music store in rural New England, only to find herself goaded by local senior citizens into falling for the guy she dumped in high school, who has since quietly made a fortune as an internet entrepreneur, but whose low key, modest, loner lifestyle makes him her perfect match. She convinces him to retire his old, worn, and rotting-in-the-case Les Paul in favor of a sharp CAR '64 Strat sitting in her family's shop and it rekindles his love for the instrument. It begins to snow, and they kiss.

The End

The Robin is my favorite. Even better if the neck is huge…

another option that does have some advantages is to get a 3-pickup telecaster.  fixed bridge.  More ballsy bridge PU.  telecaster ('nuff said).

I have a 2012 MIM ash-bodied Fender Deluxe Nashville Tele with stock Tex-Mex PUs (Tele TM PUs in the neck and bridge, Strat TM PU in the middle, 5-way switch) and I like it a lot, it's sated any urge I had for a Strat, though they're two different animals.  Then again, I'm much more a Tele guy than I am a Strat guy.  ;)

I own 3 USA Strat's, 1 Samick Strat, and recently picked up a Xavier 3 months ago.  The Xavier was an add on when I went to purchase a Craigslist PRS a few months ago.  The Xavier came with a blade runner tremolo which is worth more than the guitar.  I had to shield paint the cavity, I left the stock pickups in, but I replaced all the other electronics with CTS pots and Fender switch.  I also added a staggered set of Tone Ninja locking tuners.  The intonation is close, but the bridge should be a hair closer to the neck.  The small E string is also too close to the end of the frets.  However, the satin maple neck feels and plays amazing.  I really like the British Racing Green color.  It sits out and has become one of my daily players.  I would never recommend this or any Asian guitar as replacement upgrade parts are hard to fit.  If I could only own one Strat it would be my 1993 Fender Strat Plus.  I like the slightly thicker C profile neck and roller nut on that guitar.

Almost got a Strat tonight at my local store. Burgundy Mist, Matching Headstock, Great Weight, Great Price, then I turned it over and someone had poorly sanded the whole back of the neck. DEAL KILLER, great looking guitar though.

Who among us has NOT mutilated a Strat at some point? I have one that started out as a perfectly respectable ‘96 Lone Star… it’s so far gone now that I can do anything to it. In the words of St. Kristofferson “Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose.”

@bubs_42 if you come across an EBMM Albert Lee during your search, be sure to spend a little time with it. Mine has become my favorite non-Strat Strat and there are some hardtails out there. 10” radius so rounder than a  Daytona, flatter than most Fenders.

Good luck on the Strat hunt!

Jim's honeyburst Pacifica 312 in particular is absolutely badass. I hated to ship this one back to him.

I would buy a EBMM Albert Lee in a heartbeat, but like everything else the well is dry. They used to be a steal for what they were, great guitars i've played a few of them.

I almost went back tonight and looked at the Strat that is local, but the weather turned to crap so i'm hunkered down.

What color is that mutt, Jeff?  Looks more purple than blue to me, but my wife tells me I cannot tell the differences between the two when they in get near this range of hues.

It's best described as Crown Royal drawstring bag purple.

Well, then.  It goes without saying that you now need a matching outfit.

I have a Crown Royal Purple (MJT before they started going downhill) Strat with a killer Musikraft neck…need to swap out the trem and get it back up and running - it’s really cool!

I wanted a surf green Strat for a long time.  Last year I snagged this.  Not a Fender therefore not a "real" Strat but works for me.  1st guitar I've owned with stainless frets.  Slicker than snot on a glass doorknob.
