I’ve been wanting something a little lower watt with great cleans to fill a void In my amp ownership. Went with a Marsh Clifton Jr.

Hand wired Blackface Princeton reverb circuit with added mid control, 14w 1x12 combo. I ordered it without the speaker because I had a vintage Alnico I picked up a while back that I thought would go great with this circuit. Thanks Mark! @Jakeboy

Opted for a tweed cab for a bit more vintage aesthetic and it looks fantastic.

The amp arrived yesterday and I installed the speaker first thing this morning.

While doing so, I pulled the tubes to see exactly what it’s got.

2 x Electro Harmonix 6v6
1 x Sovtek 5AR4
3 x JJ 12AX7 ECC83S
1 x JJ 12AT7 ECC81

Set the amp volume on 4 and then controlled the rest at the guitar.

TMB at noon

Reverb on 2.5

Tremolo speed 5 intensity 2.5

Sounds great so far.

I’ll tweak the EQ a bit as I play around with it some more.

The clean tone is perfect and I can’t wait to hear how it sounds with some pedals driving it.

The wife is working from home today and started her 9am meeting a little bit ago. So, done playing for a little bit.

But, she's dropping off our son with her parents Sunday evening so I'll have an hour or so to crank it up.

Spent a little more time with the amp today. Mirage II into LP black mamba tchula into LP Echophonics into the front of the amp. Reverb on 2, tremolo speed on 5, intensity on 2, Volume on 4: rolled the guitar volume down for cleans and full up for the rawk.

Really killer tones from this setup and a little surprised at how loud it is for such a small amp. A perfect grab & go rig with minimal pedals.

Now, to work on my blues chops…

I have had the experiance of examining the guts of some Marsh amps. Great components and quality craftmanship. They do what it takes to make them sound good and last. Now..  find some old glass for that amp and will bloom!! Note's will open up!
