(btw, speaking of blockbuster HFC quote-producing movies, re: your HFC handle, have you seen the spelling in the new Top Gun?) Never saw "Wall Street," tbh. And yeah. I saw the spelling of "Kazanski" (which is the correct spelling, obviously). I created this handle pre-IMDB, before i knew about the HFC, and the credits in the original Top Gun just list him as "Iceman." I like my spelling better anyway, lol

bubs_42
5 hours ago, Hbom said: To 'understand' bubs you would need to have gone through a large stack of Hamers, have 3 Shishkovs under your bed and be playing this weeks best Stratocaster. Buying an old Hamer and keeping it alive has it's own merits. If you like it and can get it at a good price, it's a win. If you're looking to get rich flipping old guitars, this might not be the one. P.S. You can find parts cheaper than on ebay or reverb. Soon to be 4 Shishkovs. But nobody is counting. 😝
HSB0531
I say buy, regardless of mods done or "possible" repair work needed.
bry4321
Update: I pulled the trigger today. $600 for guitar and gig bag (no original case). I assume 1982's did not have neck pickups, even single coil? The neck pickup was not working so I started to remove it to see what was under there. Appears to be SD 9NJ and the pictured cavity. Contemplating removing the neck pickup and covering with pickguard. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions, pro and con.

I think it will fit in a regular Hamer LP type case, and fits pretty good in a LP case (I just checked).
