tommy p
I'm a huge Rick Nielsen fan but this is a hard pass. Has he been hanging around Gene Simmons too long? Replaces his drummer, has interest in a casino, branded a vodka, and now this. Standing by for the checkerboard caskets... 2 1
Steve Haynie
They got checkerboard caskets? Gotta link? That would be soooo cool! 🤣

Steve Haynie
No sponsor stickers on the racing themed casket? The guy must be spinning in his grave.

FTX.  Actually, no. There really is a tangible asset here. It does exist. But it is like owning a piece of the statue in your local municipal park of some historical figure. Nobody's going to find owning a share of it worth anything, if it's never really for sale. P.T. Barnum would be proud. Hell, I'm willing to sell ownership in anything I own. I'm just not willing to sell the actual asset.  3
beezerboy
so unless I'm wrong... what you get with these NFT things is a picture, on your computer. really? dang... I'm in the wrong business

I'm in the wrong business That is also what confuses me. Is it some type of special 3d rendering, or a hi-res video? It sounds like they 3d scanned and pictured the hell out of it, so it can't just be a regular picture. But the NFT is just a container for usually a web link, so guess it would direct you to download it and then it proves you "really own" it. Ugh stupid.
cmatthes
I’ve held that guitar and examined it up close on several occasions.  I’ve also seen it being played nearly 100 times. That NFT doesn’t look like the real deal, no matter what anybody says.  It looks like a crappy 3D rendering made by somebody who didn’t actually have the guitar in their presence. Stupid idea, but just my personal opinion. I’m sure there’s one, maybe two fools who will get suckered!

Remember that?
BadgerDave
As the proud owner of shares of Green Bay Packers Stock I understand the appeal. 😆 NFTs can have actual value when they represent fractional ownership of tangible assets, but this ain't that. If Rick was selling ownership shares in the actual guitar, rather than an image, it would be more interesting.

Steve Haynie
Please correct me. I am under the impression one is buying a certificate of authenticity rather than the object being certified.

Good question for the experts. I'm under the impression it's like beezerboy said above. Just a computer image. Do you get anything tangible?

currypowder
I can't believe that anyone would spend one flipping dollar on an NFT of any sort. It's just another scammy way to separate people from their money. It reminds me somewhat of this scheme that Gibson came up with last year to sell shares of ownership in a few of their "special" artist prototype guitars. https://www.guitarworld.com/news/gibson-rally-guitars-investments I realize that it's different than an NFT in that there is all actual underlying asset. But it's still a collectible with no inherent economic value other than the willingness of some future sucker to pay more than you did.
veatch
NFT has a very valid purpose. Digital images is certainly not one of them.
