gnochman
Hey there. Wondering if folks can share ballpark string heights (I assume at the 12th fret being most appropriate) for a ‘90s Hamer DC Custom with wrap tail? I finally got a Mojo Axe replacement tail to use with some Tone Pro locking studs and I’d like to get a good starting point for the correct string height for the low and high E. thanks! Jeff R
My default for my shop's electric clients if they don't specifically ask for ridiculously low or bluegrass banger high string action ... 3/64" gap between the bottom of the string and the peak of the 12th fret 4/64" gap for the low E And no matter what you shoot for, START with the truss rod. The neck's relief or lack thereof dictates where the setup is going. My notched straightedges (reads the fingerboard, not the fret peaks) are the absolute MVPs of my bench tools.
