I actually own this amp in the 45 watt version with 2 EL34s, although it is currently running 2 NOS 6CA7s. One channel is Fender Blackface, with practically unlimited clean headroom, and the HRM side is blissful, smooth OD, kick in the MOD and I'm in plexi territory. Killer amp, and yes, still a relatively well kept secret.Randy is one of the best kept secrets. I have a Daisycutter 18wt that's fantastic. He can help you get what you want out of both channels. You might want to try his Dumble HRM channel switching design. The best cleans with a fat tone without a ton of compression. Good luck.
Um, I think you've answered your own question, kindasorta...how about a Marshall JTM45 or a Bluesbreaker? Marshall says that it's rated at 30 watts RMS on the specs, though I've always thought it was 45: /emoticons/default_huh.pngLooking for a head around 30 watts that does fender cleans, and an Early ZZ top or Blues breakers??
Asking too much of 1 amp?
Would you do Fender cleans, with a pedal??
Currently have a THD 2x12 that I am looking to mate with a head
Can I have the guitar?+1 to Randy Fay of Phaez. Don't know of ANYONE else who could handwire an amp that would give you what you're looking for at less than a grand and put in the options you need. Best of all, it's gonna kick all kinds of @$$ tone-wise.
Here's my first generation DaisyCutter in my own "gtone" combo cab (my first build years ago, so don't laugh too hard)...
