David Lee Roth 2027 Tour

I saw two DLR shows in early 2020. His voice was fine, and he was there to entertain.
Videos of his last tour with backup singers seemed like there was something unnecessary for Dave.

He will be fun to watch no matter what happens.

I get it, we all get old. VH was my favorite hard rock band, but Dave's voice was never his strong suit. Seeing him now trying to do his schtick comes off more as a creepy cabaret singer than former rock god and is really tough to watch. Hard pass.

I don’t expect him to sound like 1981 DLR, but I do expect, if he’s gonna tour, that he HAS to be able to sing in key to his own damn songs. Which the vids of recent years seem to indicate he can no longer do. He needs to reinvent himself. But he has to be able to sing or at least vocalize in tune and in time to some degree. Iam surprised he hasn’t gone the blues route…there is no shame in retiring…

I agree with the sentiment, but I feel it's fair to relate that my recollection of the early (pre-synthesizer) VH, which began with catching them on the Fair Warning tour and continued for the next three album tours (the latter of which were of course without DLR) is that a fair amount of the time he wasn't singing his own songs then: audience sing-alongs, "I forgot the f'n words!", letting the others carry the chorus, etc.

Actually, I wanted really badly to have a great VH concert experience since I loved those early records so much, but I never did. Oddly, maybe, I did enjoy DLR on his first post-VH tour, and Sammy anytime I've seen him solo, but either the sound or the performances of VH disappointed me every time.

I saw DLR on the Eat 'Em and Smile and Skyscraper tours. I thought both shows were great. Dave did more actual singing and was good. I think Vai really was good for him and they were a good team. Skyscraper tour only lacked a little because of Sheehan having left to go form Mr Big.
