Kinda looking for a Valvetech

Birthday's coming up and I still miss my old VAC25.

Back story: I built a new website for Rob and we needed an amp to photograph. We agreed on specs and he agreed, very generously, to make the photo-model amp part of the payment for the site.

So I was the original owner of the red 2-10 you'll still see on the site. It sounded fantastic. But I was playing bass in this band, and had been for two years, and my guitarist immediately abandoned his Mesa Maverick to play the VAC. It kicked the Mesa's butt.

MY VAC.

Being an independent businessman I had no spare money so I finally got tired of the situation and traded the Valvetech away to, I think, Cajunboy for a B12L. Felt bad about it, but I'd sort of just given the amp to my guitarist and had nothing to show for it.

I miss it.

Anyone selling a VAC25, or maybe even a Hayseed? In a perfect world that red one with the 2 10s is still floating around the HFC...

Thanks.

Welcome back! Rob's suggesting another circuit tweak for mine. Probably should leave well enough alone, but I can't resist the possibility of it sounding even better.

I'll be the happy owner of RobB's VAC25. It's nearly a twin of mine: red, 2-10, FX loop and reverb. I kept hearing that sound in my head and while I do love my Genz Benz Black Pearl and the AC15, the Valvetech does the Tweed thing and the gain, Bluesbreaker thing like no one's business. So I'll be selling either the BP or the Vox soon.

Tadaaaaaaaa...!

This gives me a great reason to get a Hayseed30 head. Clank, squish, compress, drive, repeat... /emoticons/default_wink.png

Thassa nice. Reminds me, I've got Nightwolf's Hayseed (s/n 001) that needs to go for an update. Gotta ship that off one of these days...

Hi. I believe I owned the original red VAC for a while. I had two valvetech s and unfortunately decided to sell the red combo. It went to a local guy here in the Chicago area. If you are interested in pursuing that amp I can send along the buyers info.

With his permission, I hope. Last thing anyone needs is some lowballing HFC ninny stalking him about an amp he doesn't necessarily want to sell anyway.

If it has the faucet with lightning bolt logo, it was after 2004, I think. I also rendered that logo idea Rob had: that faucet-electricity-retro 40s industrial Tom Swift look. I can't recall what he had before. I'd have to go through some really old files to find the old logo and new but I think it was just text before.

I'm kind of puzzled as to why these amps are not the darlings of the Gear Page crowd. Too affordable, maybe. I honestly have never played anything with such a wide range of sounds, literally from a Fender Blackface clean to chug-chug Mesa gain by turning a couple knobs. I wish I understood better how amps work, 'cos it's really unlike the usual "Based on a Bassman, Based on an AC30, Based on a JCM800" things out there. I mean there are lots of great amps out there. The Aiken Tomcat I played a few times was stellar, and you can't beat a Deluxe Reverb for lots of things, or a Princeton Reverb, an AC30, a Bluesbreaker. The VAC25 or 22 is just unique.

Had a Vac25 Combo and it was very Tweedy and got cooking if you could open it up. I could not get it to the Cooking Point and keep my hearing. Now that being said the 4321 Club has one that I got cooking with a Vanguard /emoticons/default_wub.png I should have purchased a head and 1x12 closed back cab. Great Amps!
