MXR EVH Overdrive?

I have listened to the reviews online and am considering buying this pedal.  But you all here are held in high regard when it comes to honest and well thought out reviews of gear.  So, have any of you all used this pedal, and if so, what is your opinion?

Thanks in advance for your posts.

I haven't used this, but it does seem to have a lot of gain and sounds pretty good.  The only thing I don't understand about it is the boost button instead of a second footswitch for it.

I've had mine for almost 2 weeks and am really digging it.  It took me some playing around with between my TM60 (non-tube/analog) and 3 Monkeys (tube) amps, but it is really a cool and useful little beast.  It sounds FANTASTIC through the Grease Monkey, and is already mounted on the pedalboard.  Looking forward to getting some more time to play around and find some more magic in there, but it sounds a lot more authentic than my Wampler Pinnacle for the EVH stuff.

How can there be an EVH overdrive pedal when EVH doesn't (allegedly) use overdrive or distortion pedals?

In any case, I have yet to hear any EVH-in-a-box pedal that sounded like EVH (maybe because of the person playing it). I bought "The 1" pedal (was that by 'Mad Professor'? Whatever). Took it home, plugged it in, played it for ten minutes and realized it wasn't The One, then took it back to GC. Like most such pedals, they're never clean enough (though Eddie's recent tone isn't very clean either, so maybe I just prefer an older tone of his).

How?  $$$$$.  Plus the new EVH OD gives people that sound without having to buy his amps.

He has been known to use a boss sd 1 overdrive pedal to boost his sound. Dont known if he still does tho.

Want to try this pedal, looks intriguing and cheaper than his amp for sure!

Yeah, it's definitely cheaper than his amp. Actually, if you can only afford one good amp (like me), getting a clean amp and using pedals to dirty things up is probably a lot better than getting something like an EVH amp and trying to go in the other direction to get Fender cleans out of it.

The online demos of that overdrive do sound good; Like I suggested earlier, I think I just prefer his earlier tone where you can hear very powerful cleans rather than the compressed buzz he goes for today. Neither is better than the other; it's just a matter of personal preference. In any case, it's still really a matter of the player's skills more than the equipment.
