So I picked up Prince's 3121, cool groove and some great sounds.

so the track incense and candles where he is usins something on his vocal track which is really cool, what is it?

any ideas?

hey, I know it's a dumb video, but it has a clip of the song /emoticons/default_cool.png

I had a friend with a vocoder patch on a keyboard that would do something similar, and it use a IR beam as a controller, but how do you do this with a voice, or better yet, a guitar!

I'd be happy to elmail the song if you want to listen to a better clip

Ugh. While his Royal Badness can use that effect ('cause I know with him it's a limited effect, not a crutch), I am so tired of hearing that processed sound as much as I do in music today. It activates that gag reflex every time. I hear that on pop recordings mostly, but even some new country (which is essentially pop these days), and it is positively awful.

Antares AutoTune plugin

Pitch correction used to an extreme. Using a technology in a manner that it was not originally intended can be very cool - or not /emoticons/default_cool.png Z

Yup, Antares Auto-tune cranked way too high. It's a cool effect.....once.

I prefer vocoders for that kind of thing. Far more flexible and fun.
