Just got one recently. It works as advertised, sounds pretty neutral/transparent and has a lot of capabilities, maybe more than what Gus needs. But you can't beat the price I'll be using 2, lashed together for 16 tracks in one shot to capture the audio for a live DVD we're shooting. Straight to a memory card, no moving parts. Then you can USB it to the computer and just drag the tracks across and bring them up in your audio editor of choice.
I take it you're a PC? Firewire 800 comes standard on every Macbook Pro, iMac and Mac Pro. The Macbooks use FW 400.record from 8 track tape onto 8 tracks on computer in one shot.
isnt firewire dead or dying? do new laptops even come with a firewire port?
Why would anyone want to do that?Has anyone here ever talked anyone else here OUT of spending money?
